Last Friday, to mark 30 years to the day that the doors of our Weldmar Hospicecare Inpatient Unit opened, we were joined by one of the original supporters, who went on to become our then President. She talked about the vision to start the charity, and the fundraising plans to raise enough money to build the hospice, have enough running costs for a year, and set up an endowment fund. They achieved it! Something she said really resonated with me and I have been pondering on since last week. She mentioned that fundraising back then was really quite easy. "We all got in touch with everyone we knew, asked them to invite their friends round to their house for dinner, and told them about our vision. The money followed and our dream very quickly became a reality. It was really quite easy". Of course, fundraising in today's world feels so much harder. There's so many more good causes, more charities asking for support and much higher running costs and service demand. But it has got me thinking. Do we sometimes over complicate our fundraising ask? Some people like transactional fundraising, others enjoy attending events - but I do wonder how many people appreciate far less than that and just appreciate being asked to help a cause close to their heart. Of course, the power of the donor journey plays an absolute key role in this but it has got me thinking - is now the time to consider simplifying the fundraising ask in such an overcrowded fundraising world? #Thirdsector #Fundraising #Charity #Hospicecare #Hospice

2023 was a big year for Rareminds as we converted from a Community Interest Company (CIC) to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
