If you've ever spent more than 5 minutes around me, you know that I'm deeply committed to the realization of a learning health system (LHS)--a virtuous cycle where healthcare delivery informs research, and research beneficially improves care delivery. That's why I am so jazzed about this important, just-released paper exemplifying a replicable approach to real-world LHS actualization. Give it up for Nico Pronk and my other colleagues at HealthPartners, including Thomas Kottke Karen Margolis Steven Dehmer, PhD for their new piece in NEJM Catalyst https://lnkd.in/gXfC3x7T <And to build suspense and leave you hanging, another great paper by other health system colleagues will be featured in a subsequent post> Great week for the #learninghealthsystem

The core essence driving implementation science is the persistent struggle to effectively apply evidence-based interventions into practice. Decades of health services research have revealed gaps, variations, and challenges in integrating proven practices, leading to discrepancies in healthcare delivery. Implementation science offers frameworks and models to address these barriers and understand the complexities involved in translating research into practice. I believe that if the tech industry embraces strategic partnerships with true collaboration with innovative startups in MedTech and Digital Health and accelerate M&A activity within a he clinical grade innovation space then true disruption in Healthcare can emerge! Either group trying to do it on their own cannot fully capitalize on the opportunity the digital health revolution has currently created.
I had the privilege of working with John Glaser and Janet Guptill, FACHE, CPHIMS on a piece for the Harvard Business Review about why health care and technology industries should work together to serve people who need health services. What do you think?
