Nurses work long shifts, often with limited breaks, which puts immense strain on your physical and mental health. The stress of making critical decisions, dealing with life-or-death situations, and the emotional toll of witnessing suffering can lead to compassion fatigue and burnout. Most every direct care nurse has experienced this to some capacity over the past several years. Creative Health Care Management recognized that it is critical that you focus on your health and well-being, both personally and professionally. Today, we are revisiting a blog from earlier this year to discuss more about this important topic and to continue to work to advocate and improve the lives of nurses everywhere. 💙 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gQW_6V9d #wehealhealthcare #healthcare #improvinghealthcare #helpingnurses #thefutureofhealthcare

Seva Shakti Healthcare supports activities for promoting Mental Health Care for Healthcare professionals. Glad to be speaker at https://lnkd.in/dejcr5UG KJ Somiya School and college of Nursing. Nurses are at an increased risk for mental health problems due to the stressful nature of their work. Long hours, shift work, exposure to trauma, and dealing with difficult patients and families can all take a toll on nurses' mental health. It is important to promote mental health and well-being in the nursing work environment in order to: 1.Improve patient care. Nurses who are mentally healthy and well are better able to provide safe and compassionate care to their patients. 2.Reduce absenteeism and turnover. Nurses who are struggling with mental health problems are more likely to miss work or leave their jobs. 3. Create a more positive and productive work environment. A work environment that promotes mental health and well-being is more likely to be a positive and productive place to work. Employers can do to promote mental health and well-being in the nursing work environment, including: 🤗Providing access to mental health services. 🤗Nurses should have access to confidential mental health services, such as counseling, therapy, and support groups. 🤗Creating a supportive work environment. 🤗Nurses should feel supported by their colleagues and supervisors. They should also feel comfortable talking to their supervisors about any concerns they may have. 🤗Promoting healthy work-life balance 🤗Nurses need to be able to take breaks and have time for themselves outside of work. 🤗Employers can help to promote work-life balance by providing flexible work schedules and paid time off. 🤗Recognizing and rewarding nurses for their work. 🤗Nurses should be recognized and rewarded for their hard work and dedication. 💐💐This can help to boost morale and create a more positive work environment. In addition to the above, nurses can do to promote their own mental health and well-being, including: 🥳Taking care of themselves physically. 🥳Nurses need to eat healthy, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly. 🥳Building strong relationships.** Nurses should build strong relationships with their colleagues, family, and friends. 🥳Setting boundaries.Nurses need to set boundaries between their work life and their personal life. 🥳Seeking help when needed. 🥳Nurses should not hesitate to seek help if they are struggling with mental health problems. @ By promoting #mentalhealth and #wellbeing in the nursing work environment, employers can help to create a more positive and productive work environment and improve #patientcare. #nursingworkenvironment #founder #President #ceo #director #ChiefNursingOfficer #Nurses #Nursing #medical #healthcare #hospital #mentalhealth #nursingstudents Clinical Nursing Research Society Seva Shakti Healthcare Association of Healthcare Providers - AHPI (India) The Trained Nurses Association of India ECHO India

How would you feel about getting a massage during a long nursing shift? Researchers at the University of Missouri tested massage therapy as an intervention to help nursing stress and symptom burden. "After just one month of the intervention, the nurses reported fewer aches and pains after receiving the massages,” Hulett said. “Perhaps the most important finding was the nurses often reported feeling rejuvenated to go back to work after the massages, improving their overall mental well-being." (University of Missouri 2024) More research needs to be done to examine lasting effects of this intervention, but what are your thoughts? Massages for nurses sound like a great way to relieve physical tension, but would this make a lasting impact on the day-to-day work life for you? Would you prefer to see resources dedicated to initiatives such as improved staffing ratios or more flexible scheduling? I’d love to hear from other nurses—what types of interventions have helped you the most? Have wellness programs like massages, yoga, or mindfulness sessions helped in the long run? The only thing we can all probably agree on... 🌈 Navigating Challenges in Nursing: A Journey to Wellbeing 🏥💙 The world of nursing is incredibly rewarding, but it's no secret that it comes with its unique set of challenges. 🩺💔 From demanding shifts to emotional strain, the journey is both physically and mentally taxing. Yet, in the face of these challenges, nurses demonstrate remarkable resilience. Here's to overcoming hurdles and prioritizing our physical and mental wellbeing. 🌟 1. Endurance Beyond the Shifts: The physical demands of nursing can be exhausting. Long hours, constant movement, and the weight of responsibility can take a toll. Taking breaks, staying hydrated, and incorporating regular exercise into our routine are small yet impactful ways to support our physical health. 2. Mental Resilience in the Face of Adversity: Emotionally charged situations are part of the job. From comforting patients to facing loss, nurses often shoulder emotional burdens. Prioritizing mental health is crucial. Seeking support from colleagues, engaging in mindfulness practices, and acknowledging the emotional toll are steps towards resilience. 3. Battling Burnout: Burnout is an adversary many nurses face. Balancing compassion with self-care is essential. Recognizing signs of burnout, taking leave when needed, and fostering a culture of open communication within the healthcare community can contribute to preventing burnout. 4. Supportive Networks for Wellbeing: Building strong connections with colleagues, friends, and family creates a robust support system. Sharing experiences, seeking advice, and leaning on each other during challenging times fosters a sense of community. 5. Continuous Learning for Growth: Nursing is a dynamic field with ever-evolving practices. Embracing continuous learning not only enhances professional growth but also stimulates mental engagement. Workshops, seminars, and pursuing further education are avenues to stay inspired. 6. Self-Compassion as a Daily Practice: Nurses are often caregivers, but it's essential to turn that care inward too. Practicing self-compassion involves acknowledging one's efforts, celebrating achievements, and showing kindness to oneself in moments of difficulty. In the face of these challenges, each nurse is a beacon of strength and compassion. Let's continue to support each other on this collective journey to wellbeing. Venture Capitalist at the Intersection of Healthcare & Innovation | Empowering Startups & Transforming Patient Care
Nurturing the Nurse: Tackling Burnout in Healthcare 😥 #Nurses are the backbone of #healthcare, but they're facing unprecedented #burnout. A recent survey by American Nurses Foundation and McKinsey & Company reveals that over half report burnout symptoms, with many considering leaving their roles. Factors like insufficient staffing, lack of appreciation, and inadequate compensation are major contributors to this crisis🚨. COVID-19 has compounded the stress, with over 57% of nurses having contracted the virus, some facing long-term effects. Yet, 2/3 of nurses aren't receiving mental health support, pointing to a stigma around seeking help🤕. The data speaks volumes: with 41% of the nurses involved in direct patient care ready to leave their current roles, we're at a critical juncture. 🚑 Innovation in healthcare isn't just about technology; it's about sustaining our human resources. We need actionable steps to destigmatize mental health support and implement systemic changes that show nurses they are truly valued. If you are a nurse, share your thoughts - What strategies can we deploy to create a healthier work environment and reinforce the mental well-being of our nurses? 🤔 #HealthcareHeroes #MentalHealthMatters #InnovationInCare
