♀️ The theme for this year's Women's Month is Inspire Inclusion, but.. ..for those of us who are late-stage cancer survivors and work in the cancer and health care space, I need to underscore the importance of Inclusive Health. Inclusive health is a life saver anyday, as it relates to the removal of all barriers impeding anyone, especially marginalized and underserved communities from achieving their full health potential. These barriers are mainly early detection, equitable access, and full participation. Full participation referred to as the patient's active involvement in their healthcare journey via shared decision-making. So, for these barriers to be reduced or eliminated outright, it would take a village- a comprehensive network of committed and very intentional stakeholders like health advocates, legislators, political leaders, healthcare companies, media, NGOs, and etcetera, to make it feasible. The power of partnerships! Working in silos never did any good. As one who is deeply involved in cancer awareness, cancer research, policy, and legislation, it warmed my heart to listen to our guest elaborate on their efforts to ensure that no woman is left behind when it comes to access and early detection. This monumental feat was further accentuated by the passage of legislation which is helping to closing the cancer care gap. Legislation has truly played a key role here in ensuring that no woman's life is cut short based on lack of screening/early detection, and the lack of access to treatment and follow-up care. In 2013, our phenomenal guest, innovator and entrepreneur Guillermo Pepe founded Mamotest, an affordable high-quality diagnosis and patient-support solution that uses AI ✨️to improve its service. Ever since it's launch, Mamotest has screened more than 650,000 patients in Argentina and Mexico (and counting), with 87% of its patients getting diagnosed early enough to treat their cancer and save their lives. Soundbite: "We are not just developing technology..." 🎬 Here is a snippet of our in-depth discussion and do endeavor to watch the full episode by clicking on the link in comments. #cancerawareness #inclusioninaction #innovator #breastcancersupport #mammography #cancerconvoswithgraceb #aiinnovation #globalhealth #latam

This International Women’s Day, the theme is "inspire inclusion." I love this theme because it uplifts inspiring stories. It reminds us of the acts of courage women have made to shatter glass ceilings, make history, and pave the way for future generations. But it’s also a call to action. Inclusion is a big focus at Johnson & Johnson. For us, this means including the voices of women at all levels of our company – and taking action to meet the unique needs of women in communities we serve around the world. One way this comes to life is through our partnerships. We recently launched a new partnership with Women of Color in Pharma (WOCIP), an organization dedicated to advancing opportunities and amplifying the voices of women of color in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. We are also a long-standing partner with the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association - Entrepreneurship . Through both of these partnerships, our employees have access to an extended network and resources to help them grow in their careers. I hope you all take this year’s International Women’s Day call to action – "inspire inclusion" – to heart. Learn more about how we’re taking action to inspire inclusion for women in STEM at the link below. #InspireInclusion #mycompany #iwd2024

Today at 12pm ET | With the rise of health and technological advancements, why are some patients still being left behind when it comes to health access, screenings, and treatments? The reality is highly influenced by a series of socioeconomic and cultural factors leading to lower engagement in cancer and health screenings. Looking at cancer specifically, Hispanics are more likely to have their cancer diagnosed at a late stage when treatment is usually more invasive and less successful. How do we start to change this? In this briefing, we'll unpack some of the most important cultural barriers contributing to disparities in healthcare equity and cancer outcomes in the Hispanic community and explore how various organizations are joining forces to lead a fight to drive Hispanics to get checked "a tiempo." Throughout the past years of attending and speaking at countless women's health conferences, a recurring theme has become clearer than ever: 🌟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐱-𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐝. 😔 We often find ourselves nodding in agreement, expressing our concerns, and then resuming our routines. While beautiful designs and incremental innovations are celebrated, they rarely live up to the 'game-changing' label. If you've ever shared this frustration, we invite you to explore a remarkable example of groundbreaking work led by Ridhi Tariyal and her team at NextGen Jane, Inc. 👏 Their endeavor is nothing short of what Eric Schmidt used to call a 'big bet' during his time at Google: bold, daring, and genuinely pushing the boundaries of science. It's the kind of innovation that gives you goosebumps and reminds us all that real progress in women's health is possible. 👇 Read more about their incredible journey and the transformational impact they're making in this field. 💪 Let's support and celebrate pioneers like NextGen Jane who are turning our collective aspirations into tangible advancements. Together, we can ensure that women's health is no longer overshadowed or underserved. #WomensHealth #Innovation #GameChangers #FindYourZazazu #FemTecg https://lnkd.in/eq5cCSmX

What is FemTech? For those who are late, you are still on time - thanks to the new report by McKinsey & Company which did a great job in uncovering what matters. It matters, for example, that we are losing a ton of money in female health. Consider this: For women, we invest much more in pathologies that lead to death (e.g. ovarian cancer), rather than disability (e.g. endometriosis). Which makes sense, as a priority. However, there are 10 conditions that heavily lead to disability and that, alone, contribute to 50% of the entire GDP lost. Yet we invest only 1% of the global health budget into these 10 and any other women's health condition, beyond oncology. Imagine what we could achieve with another 1% 🔥 👇🏽 Link to the article in the first comment

🌍 Addressing the gap in women's health care delivery could reduce women's time in poor health by nearly two-thirds –– that's 500+ healthier days. ☝️ 🚨 A call to action for healthcare providers, researchers, policy makers and innovators who play a role in better transformative care for women. 🛑 Here is one story of a young women facing attacks and being dismissed : 👉🏾I began to have what I simply called ‘attacks’. They left me weak and very scared. I had these episodes once or twice a week consistently. I saw the doctor. He didn't seem to hear me. All he saw was an overweight, top-heavy black woman. He told me that I needed a better bra to support my ample breasts. I was dismissed. I immediately bought a new bra. The ‘attacks’ continued. One year later I had to have emergency surgery to remove an extremely perforated and damaged gallbladder. My bile duct was clogged by stones.” -credit to #XProject #MyStoryForChange 🌟 Stories like this are why we are fighting to #ClosetheCareGap for women. 🫶🏾Let’s change it Taking a women-centric approach to healthcare to close these gaps and improve health outcomes for everyone.
