Uhhhh, if we simply used advanced primary care (DPC, On-site/near-site clinic, VPC) we would not need as many (PE backed) hospitalists staffing the Emergency Rooms. This should not be a difficult issue to resolve. #highperformance #healthcare https://lnkd.in/gkYkPQt8

75% of practice managers reported that PCNs have improved patient care, with benefits including better coordination of care, improved patient engagement and empowerment, and enhanced patient safety. Effective communication is a key factor in this success, as Primary Care Networks continue to facilitate open and timely communication between patients, healthcare providers, and family members. Let's talk about everyone's favorite topic: Hospital prices. There are some huge disparities in the prices hospitals charge that can’t be attributed to quality of care, according to a recent study from research institute RAND. “The wide variation in prices is notable, and addressing this variation could lead to substantial reductions in medical spending,” researchers wrote in the study. The American Hospital Association pushed back on the report, stating the analysis “represents less than 2% of overall hospital spending” and “offers a skewed and incomplete picture of hospital spending.” Read more: #hospitals #hospitalpricing #health #healthcare

As primary care’s share of overall NHS funding falls to an eight-year low, can practices continue to meet patient demand? The patient-to-GP ratio continues to rise and teams are providing record-breaking numbers of appointments. Despite this, uplifts to core general practice funding have been minimal, while the most significant increases have been channelled into the additional roles reimbursement scheme and PCN service. So how should practices adapt to changing funding streams? 🟢 Maximising the use of ARRS budgets – embed ARRS staff members within your workforce and ensure that triage processes allow for easy direction of patients to appropriate ARRS resources. 🟢 Minimising avoidable appointments – By identifying cases where there is a clear need to see a GP, and ensuring that all other cases are referred to other relevant services, we can reduce the pressure on GP capacity. 🟢 Reducing admin and bureaucracy – by capturing the full picture of a patient’s enquiry whether submitted online, via phone or as a walk-in, triage teams have the complete picture of patient need, removing the need to follow-up with patients and saving valuable decision-making time. As pressures on core funding continue, understanding how to meet challenges through existing funding streams – such as those for ARRS roles or adopting digital solutions – is essential to ensure the sustainability of care.
