This October FLSA is taking part in One Foot Forward to help raise awareness for mental health and reduce the impact of mental illness and suicide.   Did you know that 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year? In fact, every day in Australia, 9 people die by suicide. 🚶♀️ A Walk of 150km for a Cause that's Close to Home 🚶♀️ This World Mental Health Day, and every day this October, I'm stepping forward with purpose. My goal? To walk 150km and to shine a light on an issue that casts a shadow on so many lives: mental illness. Why? Because mental health isn't just a statistic for me; it's personal. My family's narrative is intertwined with the heartbreaks of mental illness and suicide. The anguish of losing close family members to substance abuse disorders and the devastating blow of a nephew's suicide is something I carry with me every day. In Australia, 1 in 5 of us will grapple with symptoms of mental illness each year. But behind each statistic is a story, a family, a life. So, I walk in memory, in solidarity, and with hope. Hope that, with every step I take and every dollar raised, we can rewrite the story for someone else, ensuring they get the help and support they desperately need.
