Are you too comfortable in your nursing career? Here’s how to know when it’s time to make a change. I’ve constantly sought roles that challenged me, but something was holding me back from progressing as fast as I wanted. Fear of not being ready, struggling to balance work and life, and sticking to my comfort zone were keeping me from growing. Recently, a new job opportunity made me question: Am I too comfortable where I am? I knew I needed a change, even if it meant stepping out of my comfort zone. Taking specific courses was on my mind, but staying where I was wouldn't give me the support I needed. This new opportunity matched my career goals and interests. Realizing such chances are rare, I decided to take a leap and apply. If you're feeling stuck but hesitant to change, ask yourself these 3 questions: 1️⃣ Are you too comfortable in your nursing career? 2️⃣ Do your goals align with your current path? 3️⃣ Can you make changes to break free from the routine? What Does Building a Career Your Way Look Like? One of the best decisions I made was building a career that worked for me—not what I thought I should do. Remote work, starting businesses, or exploring something outside traditional nursing doesn’t mean you’re leaving nursing behind. It means you’re taking it to a new level. It’s okay to want more, and it’s okay to build it your way. Want help designing a career that fits your life? Book a 1:1 call—link in bio. #remotenurse #remotenursing 📈 🪴

"24 Pieces of Career Advice I Wish I’d Known Earlier" by Ryan Holiday offers invaluable insights garnered from his own experiences and observations. From navigating office politics to cultivating resilience, this collection of advice serves as a practical guide for anyone seeking to thrive in their career. With concise wisdom and actionable tips, Ryan empowers readers to make informed decisions and pursue professional success with clarity and purpose. As a nurse for over 10 years, I found this article to be a treasure trove of guidance that is particularly applicable to healthcare professionals, especially nurses, who are navigating their careers. Ryan’s insights on resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness resonate deeply in an industry marked by constant change and high-pressure environments. Whether it is managing burnout, fostering meaningful relationships with patients and colleagues, or embracing continuous learning, his advice offers pragmatic strategies for thriving in the healthcare field while maintaining personal well-being and professional fulfillment. I can only speak from a nursing point of view. I have seen many young nurses and, to be honest, older nurses complain often of facing a myriad of challenges. These challenges can include heavy workloads, long hours, and high stress levels, leading to burnout and fatigue. Additionally, many nurses report feeling undervalued and unsupported, especially in environments with hierarchical structures where their voices may not be heard or respected. Furthermore, the ongoing nursing shortage exacerbates these issues, putting additional strain on nurses who are already stretched thin. In some cases, these challenges may lead to disillusionment or even attrition from the profession, impacting both individual nurses and the healthcare system as a whole. Efforts to address these challenges include providing mentorship programs, creating supportive work environments, and advocating for policies that prioritize nurses' well-being. All I am saying is to check on your colleagues to ensure they are doing okay. What else can be done to address the challenges in the healthcare system? https://lnkd.in/eeVCGaff

I've been considering posting about this for a while because it's pretty personal. However, my personal life affects my professional life significantly, so: In May, I left an accelerated nursing program that I worked over a year to get into. I realized I was not prepared for the rigor of such a curriculum. My mental health quickly took a toll and I utlimately chose to withdraw from the program to preserve my well-being. As a way to bounce back, I accepted a nurse aide job shortly after to gain more healthcare experience. I think it was my way of trying to convince myself I still wanted to pursue nursing too. But, lo and behold, my mental health only got worse, so I left that role shortly after starting as well. All in all, this summer has been a huge eye opener for me. While the decisions I made were for my best interest, they have no less been sucker punches to the gut. I thought patient-facing healthcare was my dream, but I'm not so sure anymore. For the first time in my life, my path is not clear and it has honestly been a terrifying experience. Despite my trials and tribulations, I'm doing much better. I have been focusing taking care of myself while I am looking for a new role 🙂. I'm particularly interested in university-level laboratory and academic work, scientific research, and library operations too. If you have any connections pertaining to these, let me know 👀 (this job market is rough *cough cough*). This is honestly such a relief to finally talk about. During this period of personal adversity, I've felt pretty ashamed for stepping away from professional opportunities and focusing on my well-being. However, I am only human and life is not a linear process.

💼 Embracing Growth: My Updated Nursing Resume 💼 Over the past few weeks, I’ve dedicated time to refining my resume, taking to heart the constructive feedback I’ve received from mentors, professors, and peers. It’s been an eye-opening process that has taught me the value of presenting my experiences and skills in a way that truly reflects who I am and where I’m headed in my career. My resume now better highlights my: Clinical experiences in Critical Care, Perioperative Services, and beyond. Leadership roles as an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Passion for volunteering, community involvement, and patient advocacy. Certifications and skills that position me for success in the fast-paced world of nursing. This process has not only prepared me to make a strong impression on potential employers but also reminded me how much I’ve accomplished during my nursing journey. I’m incredibly grateful for those who took the time to offer me their insights and feedback. Growth truly happens when you’re willing to listen, reflect, and take action! #passion or #profession ? Very few people have a profession that's also their passion. eg medicine, teaching! But some of us are stuck, we all are pursuing a regular job, but sometimes passion pulls us. Let me tell you something, it can vo exist. there's this trend where we see posts, reels saying I left my 9 to 5 to follow my passion. But reality is quite different, most of us have dependants to look after and feed upon. So don't overthink, every job opportunity you get is a blessing, all you need to do is # prioritize your time to follow your passion too. #passion #fulltime #contentcreator #profession #9to5
