Are We Measuring the Right Attributes in Pre-Licensure Nursing Admissions? Each year, over 65,000 academically qualified applicants to pre-licensure nursing programs are turned away due to resource constraints. Yet, despite these high numbers of qualified candidates, many programs still face attrition rates as high as 50%. Current admissions processes heavily rely on GPA and past academic performance to assess applicants, but these criteria alone are poor predictors of nursing school success. They often overlook critical attributes like grit, problem-solving, and resilience - traits proven to correlate with student retention and overall performance in nursing programs. With the demand for nurses higher than ever, it's time we rethink how we evaluate potential nursing students. We need an approach that goes beyond academics to identify who is truly equipped to thrive in the rigorous world of nursing. At Level Assessments, we’re working to solve this problem with a research-backed, holistic admissions tool designed to evaluate both cognitive and non-cognitive factors that are critical to success. Are you ready to rethink how we assess the next generation of nurses? Let’s connect and start the conversation. #NursingEducation #HolisticAdmissions #HealthcareWorkforce #NursingShortage #FutureOfNursing
