According to a recent MGMA survey, 43% of medical group owners have hired alternative staff to cover open medical assistant roles. MGMA reports that many practice leaders look to fill the gap left by an MA vacancy with certified nursing assistants (CNAs), registered nurses (RNs), and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). "When MAs are unavailable, it puts practice administrators in a position to find someone else — including themselves, at times — to ensure a staff member can room patients throughout the day," writes MGMA Managing Editor Chris Harrop. Medical Assistant Pay in New England: BLS data indicates New England to be one of the STRONGEST regions in the country for medical assistant pay. Their annual mean wage levels in every New England state tops the national average, and two states in the region rank among the ten best nationally for medical assistant annual mean wages. The Best and Worst States for Medical Assistant Pay: The BLS estimated that, as of May 2023, the national mean wage for #MedicalAssistants was $43,350 per year. From state to state there was considerable variation in #MedicalAssistant mean annual wages, with those in some regions of the country earning 50% or more than their counterparts elsewhere. MEDICAL SECRETARIES , Are you doing this? I know you want to help patient's through their pathway to treatment? I know you want to reduce the amount of queries you get from managers, validators etc. I know that you are very busy but you need to STOP and re-evaluate what you are doing. Can the process change to make you less busy? One thing you can do is keep a track and manage those patients who are sent for a diagnostic test. Why: - You type the letter that states what tests they are having - You type the letter with the results to the patients and GP - You will reduce the amount of validation required - You will have stopped the patient's RTT Pathway at the right time - You will stop patient's worrying about what is happening - You will improve the patient experience because they will not have been missed What do you need to do: - create an excel spreadsheet to keep a list - add each diagnostic test that the patient is going for - check on a weekly basis whether results have been received - make sure the next step following clinical review is actioned - add an administrative clock stop to the patient's pathway on the Trust's EPR/PAS If you did all this and all medical secretaries did this would you not feel better that your family member should they be referred into the hospital would not get lost in the system and be assured that someone was looking out for them. #waiting #waitinglist #HealthCareAdministration #medicalsecretary #NHS #NHScareers #NHSJobs #training #TrainingCourse #SeniorMANAGER
