Did you know that medical records are up to 50 times more valuable than stolen credit cards on the black market?🤯 At the same time, we're seeing a lot of positive momentum in interoperability - patient data is being exchanged digitally and at scale more than ever before. When you put those two facts together, it's no surprise that data security is one of the most pressing issues in healthcare right now. That's why Bart Howe authored an editorial for the spring issue of For the Record Magazine that focuses on data security in light of all the recent advances in interoperability. Check out the full article for perspective on health data security in an increasingly digital world, as well as a few key questions for your organization to consider as you think about how to best protect your patients' health information. https://lnkd.in/gyNTaSeg

So here comes ETHGlobal #NYC, and here comes the launch of did:health, a standard W3C decentralized identifier that supports the Lit Protocol. David Sneider and the Lit team have implemented a #Web3 version of #threshholdcryptography that is a true ecosystem changer, especially for patients, who are safest and most empowered if they control their data. As a technologist, I am calling Lit the best encryption/decryption scheme available for a Patient navigating the digital healthcare world for a few reasons: 1. Patients are demanding total #privacy of their healthcare data as they should, and Lit delivers this. Threshold cryptography enables patients to encrypt/decrypt their health data on their local machine on their web browser or a decentralized app. 2. Patients don't need to be concerned with their encryption signing keys being lost or compromised. It's simply not possible with threshold cryptography. Or simply put, it's what I would use myself if I wanted the highest level of security available today. Also worth mentioning is that W3C DID, through our efforts with HL7, is now a valid identifier in #FHIR, so the interoperability is already there! Thanks John Moehrke and Co. for seeing this through. One final note: No one owns did:health. The did:health resolver contract which is like a public DNS for your DID (on the #Ethereum block) goes into a forever contract that will be managed by a DAO, so there is a 0% data grab/control going on here. Any change to the resolver contract would require a majority vote of the DAO, so this should last forever. Your data is now yours.
👋 Hey everyone! We're excited to introduce did:health, a groundbreaking solution for healthcare data privacy and security. 🏥🔒 🌐 What is it? did:health is a digital ID system that's globally recognized and follows W3C standards. It's like a secure, digital passport for your healthcare data. 🔐 How is it Secure? We use something called LIT Protocol, which is a super-secure way to protect your data. Imagine you have a safe that requires multiple keys to open. Even if someone gets hold of one key, they can't access the safe. That's how secure your data is with us! 📦 Where is the Data Stored? Your healthcare data is stored on IPFS, a decentralized network. Think of it as a community storage unit where each piece of data has a unique, unchangeable address. No one can tamper with it! 👩💻 Who Controls the Data? You do! You decide who can see your data, who can use it, and for what purpose. It's all in your hands. 🤝 Why Should You Care? Policy Makers: This is a step forward in creating secure, standardized digital IDs for healthcare. It's compliant, secure, and user-centric. Healthcare Data Privacy Advocates: This is a win for data privacy and security. It gives control back to the individual and keeps data safe from unauthorized access. 🌟 The Future is Here With did:health, we're not just talking about the future of healthcare data; we're building it. Let's make healthcare data secure, private, and user-controlled! #HealthcareData #DataPrivacy #DigitalID #W3C #LITProtocol #IPFS #Decentralization
