Sarah, will you address why Wellcare starting Jan 1 2025 is abandoning thousands of agents and brokers that have serviced and assisted Wellcare members all these years? Cutting off independent agents and agencies nationwide in 2025 will result in massive disruption to those Wellcare members currently enrolled in Part D plans. It is not fair to Seniors who rely on their local broker to guide them and assist them. It is not fair to the brokers who work hard to help them and will now be forced to turn away those same Seniors and inform them they are "on their own" for service and support. Pulling the rug out from your agent and broker community has sent shockwaves through the industry. You really should talk with Wellcare's CEO Michael Carson and direct him to retract the recent decision to eliminate all compensation for agents and brokers on part D plans, including new AND renewal policies. Is it worth alienating the massive broker community to save the company a few bucks (less than $5 per member per month)?
Community health centers (CHC) are the heart of community-based care, offering personal, high-quality care deeply rooted in the neighborhoods they serve. I deeply appreciate the work that the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and its members do every day to help the communities we both serve. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend NACHC’s 2024 Community Health Institute & EXPO and discuss the work that its members do every day and our shared goal of improving community health. Thank you Kyu Rhee, MD, MPP for the great conversation! #CHIexpo24 #ValueCHCs #Healthcare #CommunityHealth

What does it take to ensure that community engagement isn't transactional, reduced to a buzzword or checkbox, in building partnerships between healthcare and people with lived experience? Our Power session with the team from INSPIRE is up on the website, you can learn from their research process, best practices, and action recommendations what it looks like to make community engagement more authentic and transformational.
We had a phenomenal discussion at our last Power is a Social Determinant of Health session about community engagement, with our colleagues and friends from INSPIRE (Initiating National Strategies for Partnership, Inclusion, and Real Engagement). INSPIRE is a national partnership project that brings together the Camden Coalition, Community Catalyst, the The Center to Advance Consumer Partnership, PFCCpartners, the Institute for Patient and Family Centered Care, alongside a team of experts with lived experience. Together, they are working to co-design a national strategy to advance meaningful partnerships between healthcare organizations and community members. If you missed this session live, you can now watch the recording and access the resources shared during it, on our website ⬇ https://lnkd.in/etKaPd5i #CommunityEngagement #Healthcare #CommunityPower

Our long-term partnership with Care Ring is rooted in community voice and building relationships that optimize true care for a community - and not just transactional services. This week's article from Ryan Pitkin at The QC Nerve highlights how this work influenced locations and offerings for Care Ring's mobile health clinic - The Bridge - and in turn, more people receiving the healthcare they need. We're so inspired by the way our teammate Helen Hope Kimbrough builds trust in communities by listening and being proximate to the issues neighbors face - including, in this case, what it might take for an individual to access the clinic and making that walk herself. As she says in the article, “I wanted to see what it would be like for a mom to walk with two kids, or for a person who does not speak English or a second language, how would they navigate that?” she explained. “I also wanted to see what type of things would be needed for a person who may be disabled. And so along that walk, I got a chance to kind of embody some of that, because I feel like some of this work people come to with a bias. So how do we pull back all of that so that we can literally look to see the neighborhood — what’s going on, the people, the bus routes, all of those things?” You can read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eAXsEGbd For more about what Next Stage believes about Community Voice, read our recent report, "Inside Out: The Case for Community Voice:" https://lnkd.in/efvfu-4R

Happy National Health Center Week! Did you know that Mosaic is a "Community Health Center"? Do you know why that makes us different? Community Health Centers were founded out of the Civil Rights Movement and the War on Poverty in the 1960s as a way to address population health issues beyond just clinical diagnoses — by focusing on the root of health disparities caused by poverty, inequality, lack of access to care, and other socio-economic factors. Since then, the Health Center Program has grown to become a key part of the nation’s healthcare system. Partially funded by government grants, Community Health Centers MUST meet the Health Center Program requirements, which include: - Having a governing board where a majority of its members are patients - Focusing on the needs of the groups of people and the areas they serve - Developing systems of care that center on the patient - Serving everyone, even if they cannot pay - Charging for services on a sliding fee scale - Providing all required services - Following everything else the Compliance Manual requires Learn more about the history of Health Centers and their birth during the 1960s on the National Association of Health Care Centers blog: https://loom.ly/_1Ihdkw. #NHCW24 #ValueCHCs #QualityCareForAll

At Axis Community Health, we're committed to ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all. That's why we were excited to visit the Sacramento Capitol today, advocating for policies directly impacting our patients and clinic. During our visit, Axis’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Dawnell Moody, addressed the critical need to tackle the workforce crisis in primary care in the United States emphasizing the importance of preparing the next generation of primary care providers to serve diverse patient populations. Dr. Moody further discussed how Community Health Centers play a vital role in providing essential and cost-efficient healthcare to millions across the US. She outlined challenges faced by Community Health Centers in California, particularly regarding financial sustainability. Our behavioral health team provided insight into the multi-faceted benefits of integrated behavioral health highlighting our Axis Bridge urgent mental health intervention. Dr. Jennifer Penney, Axis’s Chief of Integration, shared the program’s effectiveness in providing urgent mental health services to individuals of all ages as well as the significant cost savings achieved through Axis Bridge, as well as its role in decreasing hospitalizations and unnecessary emergency department visits within the Tri-Valley. We look forward to continuing to engage with policymakers and stakeholders to advocate for policies that support our mission of providing essential healthcare services to our community. #AxisCommunityHealth #HealthEquity #Advocacy #PrimaryCare #MentalHealth #CHCs #CaliforniaHealthcare #SacramentoCapitol #DAC2024 #ValueCHCs #CHCAdvocacy California Primary Care Association
