This year's theme, "Closing the Gap:Breastfeeding Support for All", highlights the importance of providing equitable breastfeeding support to all mothers. Breastfeeding is a cornerstone of healthy development, offering unparalleled benefits for both infants and mothers. However, many mothers face significant barriers to breastfeeding, including lack of support, misinformation, and societal pressures. This week, let's come together to: Raise Awareness: Educate our communities about the benefits of breastfeeding and the challenges many mothers face. Support Mothers: Offer practical support and encouragement to breastfeeding mothers in our families, workplaces, and communities. Advocate for Change: Push for policies that protect and promote breastfeeding, ensuring that all mothers have the resources and support they need. Join us in celebrating the diversity of breastfeeding journeys and the strength of mothers everywhere 🤱 Together, we can close the gap and ensure that every mother has the support she needs to give her child the best start in life. #WorldBreastfeedingWeek2024 #BreastfeedingSupport #ClosingTheGap #HealthForAll #NAFDAC #FederalMinistryofHealth

Working within diverse cultures and harvesting perspectives on issues is part of capacity strengthening for effective advocacy. Such issues as “why a woman would not want to exclusively breastfeed her baby” or even breastfeed at all… is a huge concern. This message is to adolescent girls and young mothers … Breast sag is not a consequence of suckling. The ‘breast must sag whether one breastfeeds or not.’ 😰 Please breast feed exclusively for the first six months of your baby’s life if you are still making babies 😊🎯🥰The Breastmilk contains all nutrients needed by an infant in the right proportions for optimal growth and development. Created in 1992 by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy, World Breastfeeding Week aims to generate public awareness and support for breastfeeding every year from August 1-7. #WBW2024 will focus on survival, health and wellbeing. It will showcase the need to improve breastfeeding support to reduce inequalities that exist in our society with a special focus on breastfeeding in times of emergencies and crises. Breastfeeding can act as an equalizer in our society and efforts must be made to ensure everyone has access to breastfeeding support and opportunities. It is essential that no family is left behind, especially vulnerable mothers who may need additional support to reduce breastfeeding inequalities.

Breastfeeding is one of the best investments for saving infants and young children in our society. It provides adequate food and nourishment from the first day of life, up to 2 years and beyond. Exclusive breastfeeding for at least 6 months after a child’s birth is a powerful lifesaver. It is critical to the long-term health and well-being of both mother and child. As you watch this #BreastfeedingWeek broadcast, let's talk about the importance of breastfeeding for our mothers and babies, the incredible benefits, and how we can support mothers in Rivers State and beyond. #WorldBreastfeedingWeek2024 #BreastfeedingSupportForAll #Closingthegap #WBW2024 #WABA #Health4AllRivers #RiversState
