The qualifications for my internship’s career path can be found in a variety of places. Medical and scientific ones, pertaining to surgical procedures and the like, should be learned through gaining a DVM/VMD degree at a veterinary college. Usually applicants need a bachelor’s degree in biology or something similar. Licensing is required, so all aspiring vets must pass some kind of licensing exam. Handling animals and running procedures smoothly can only come from practice, so internships or clinical rotations are usually necessary. #CTE #granitedistrictinterns Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics

Happy & sad - they often go together. Very happy welcoming the new 24/25 virtual veterinary intern class to their first virtual rotation; sad to say goodbye to the interns of class 23/24 - Yaiza Forcada, PhD and I cannot express how proud we are of all of them. An attempt: Each virtual intern has pushed hard to identify and target areas of growth. Each has tried and often succeeded to be vulnerable - shown areas of uncertainty whilst suppressing the reflex to hide behind things one already knows. Our interns allowed themselves to feel uncomfortable during live cage-side rounds, in discussions with specialists and peers. They pushed themselves to read a little bit more and watched an extra few rounds sessions late at night or early in the morning every month of the year (instead of that new Netflix series!). Our interns dared to vocalise their dreams and aspirations to their mentor. This all has resulted in a growth journey that has probably been more confronting, more intense, more personal and therefore also more satisfying than it would have been without committing to the internship. To witness that, has been a true honour for us. We know that life outside of the internship has been demanding on its own; having paired it up with this internship experience and still coming out at the end of it, is something to be proud of! Certificate or no certificate, having met 100% of your learning goals or just 10% - our interns should be proud of making it to the end and having conducted one's own personal journey. Imperfect and therefore perfect. Interns: Thank you for trusting us with your growth - good luck on your further journey - we believe in you - you will be for ever part of the Veterinary Information Network Virtual Veterinary Internship family (Interested in this not-for-profit internship? www.vin.com/vvi ) #veterinary #veterinarymedicine #mentorship #growth #givingback

I found this article about why or why not people should do a veterinary internship, and found it very interesting. They discussed how they can help students build up their skills and experiences before they fully enter a career. They also stress the importance of doing your research and joining a good internship program, as many of them can be different and very competitive, and can be hard to get into some programs. I can use the information from this article to encourage myself to gain more experiences by asking questions and asking to help when I can, it can also be used to help show the importance of researching programs I could go into after I have graduated high school and can start my college studies. #alpinecteinternships #mountainlandcte Alpine School District CTE Internships https://lnkd.in/gCHdCtT3

Internship and externship opportunities are a critical part of the growth and education of equine veterinary students, and finding a practice that is a good fit is imperative to ensure that students have the best experience possible while learning important hands-on skills. We caught up with some passionate, third-year veterinary students at this year's Opportunities in Equine Practice Seminar (OEPS) to hear some of the factors that they consider when evaluating potential internship and externship opportunities.

I learned from this article that there are 2 main types of Veterinary Internships that you can take. There is rotating internship and the specialty internship. This article describes what each internship prepares you for and what they teach you. I learned that i am taking a rotating internship so i am learning the basics of being a Veterinarian and the basics of their jobs. I can apply multiple things from this article to my internship but i especially can apply the descriptions of each internship to mine.

When I graduated veterinary school, my choices were to get underpaid and overworked at an internship, OR jump right into general practice with unknown mentorship and support. I was fortunate to work with a dedicated mentor in GP, but I still wanted more: more opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, more surgical training, more dedicated time to continue learning from experienced vets, more chances to enhance my communication and leadership skills, more exposure to DEIB, more learning from CE, and more mental health support. IndeVets created the GP Rotating Mentorship Programs so we can support more vets in finding joy and fulfillment in their careers right from the start. New grads and veterinary students: are you ready to become an IndeVet?! https://lnkd.in/eXZ8f49Q
