Dear Connections; Kindly suggest you to carefully review our December23 reports, which have a serious impact on the market… #Fig #Paste / #Diced #Fig 1) https://lnkd.in/dCAgXcd8 (Fig Paste December23 Market Report) Raw material of #Figpaste is officialy 1.45 Usd -1.60 Usd / Kg. There is completely price chaos in the paste industry raw material price. This chaos seems that will continue all season. As a company, we will continue to support our "loyal customers" with "our long-term plans" with "confident steps". The low crop yield, the effects of inflation in our country and the global market, the suppressed dollar exchange rate in our country, and the limited supply and high demand of the product caused the prices to increase to this extent. We determined our December/2023 Fig Paste Market score as 37/100 depending on our scoring distribution based on all the developments and market information above. (Last season score was 57/100) NOTE: This score is not positive for the part of this season until the new year. In addition a low score is not positive for any stakeholder of the sector... 2) https://lnkd.in/dBGtZTeu (Diced Figs December23 Market Report) To summarize, from the beginning of the season (December23) to the new year, the market appears to be a completely Bull market. We determined our December/2023 #Dicedfigs Market score as 53/100 depending on our scoring distribution based on all the developments and market information above. (Last Season score was 62/100. Almost -%17 score decrease) This is a LOW (NEGATIVE) score for a 23crop market. #Dried #figs #report #2023crop #figpaste #dicedfigs

Have you ever wondered if we're maximizing the potential of the avocado supply chain, especially during the big game in Q1? Our previous posts demonstrated that despite Q1 boasting the highest household penetration, the largest share of retail trips featuring avocados, and the highest number of purchasing trips, there's a surprising trend. The average spend per household on avocados in Q1 is the third lowest of the year, standing at just $17.26. We concluded that the lower average selling price is the factor driving the lower spend. In this new post, the #AvocadoGeeks analyzed, specifically, the big game. Why? Because the big game takes place in Q1, and it is by far the number one driver of sales for the quarter. The #AvocadoGeeks explored exclusive business insights data and reports to uncover the hidden dynamics. See the details by downloading this exclusive PDF. Interesting info you should know. We have regular buyers for our farm products, and today I had the chance to talk to one of them about why he prefers our Water gourd with long stalks. Interestingly, he mentioned that if the product doesn’t sell on the same day, they cut a bit of the stalks each day. The reason is to make it look more appealing and appear freshly plucked from the farm. This is an example of how products can be manipulated. Claiming the product is freshly plucked under these circumstances is somewhat misleading, but that’s the reality of how the market strives to survive. What do you think? #knowledgesharing #zerowaste

A GUIDE TO GARRI PRODUCTION Understanding the production processes of various food products is invaluable. Below is a detailed step-by-step procedure for Garri production: ❗Harvesting: Cassava tubers are carefully harvested from the field. ❗Peeling: The outer skin of the cassava tubers is removed to prepare them for further processing. ❗Washing: The peeled cassava is thoroughly washed to remove any dirt and impurities. ❗Grating: The clean cassava is grated into a fine pulp. ❗Fermentation: The grated pulp is placed in bags and left to ferment for 2-5 days, reducing cyanide content. ❗Pressing: After fermentation, the cassava pulp is pressed to remove excess water. ❗Sieving: The pressed pulp is sieved to achieve a uniform texture. ❗ Frying: The sieved cassava is fried in large pans, turning it into the granular product known as garri. ❗Cooling: The fried garri is spread out to cool and ensure any remaining moisture evaporates. ❗Packaging: Once cooled, the garri is packaged for storage and sale. Understanding these processes not only enhances our appreciation for this staple food but also highlights the skill and effort involved in its production. 📸 Google #FoodProduction #Garri #Agriculture #FoodIndustry #Day23ofthe30dayfoodchallenge

🌍 Small size Hass Avocados, Big Problem? 🤔 I've had conversations with some avocado value chain players this week, and we’ve got a situation—small fruits (counts below 24) aren’t making the cut in many markets, especially for airfreight shipments. 🥑 What’s the game-changer here? Do we shift our focus on value addition (guacamole, frozen avocado, pulp, oil) or invest in better production to ensure we get bigger sizes? With massive planting being witnessed across the globe, and the projected volumes by 2030📈. Where should we focus on? #Greengold #ValueAddition #KenyaAvocados #Sustainability #Agribusiness

Founder at Blue Turaco Coffee - Championing Ugandan Specialty Robusta: Making coffee accessible, empowering small-holder coffee farmers, and fighting childhood hunger through coffee and wildlife safaris
A coffee farmer's dilemma: my thoughts as I sit here waiting for the rains to stop so I can go back to coffee drying duties. For the past two days, we haven’t been able to dry our coffee properly. This is a common challenge for coffee farmers - it also means you will have two days down on your planned batch drying time. When we saw the coffee blossom this week, we were excited - because it signals next year’s crop is coming. Most farmers anticipated that the rains would arrive to help the flowers set. Rain is essential for watering our other crops and allowing the coffee blossoms to set. But we also need the sun to harvest, process, and dry the coffee. Prolonged rains, however, can lead to poor-quality coffee. Too much sun doesn’t allow the new flowers to set which could lead to poor yield the following season. It’s a delicate balance between sun and rain. Both are needed but in equal measures. The life of a smallholder coffee farmer is hard but one that teaches you resourcefulness, calmness and patience. If you like to follow my journey as we build the most impactful single origin Ugandan specialty robusta brand. let’s connect Wycliffe Sande #coffee #smallholdercoffeefarmer #rain #sun #thoughts #founder

💡 DIVE DEEPER INTO MODIFIED STACH 💡 Modified starch, is an integral ingredient in the food industry. In general, starch is a type of complex carbohydrate compound, mainly found in grains such as corn, potatoes, and wheat. However, through denaturation, starch becomes easier to digest and has a natural viscosity, giving softness and plasticity to foods. The denaturation process also enhances the durability of starch when exposed to heat, acid, or freezing. Specifically, modified starch can withstand great thermal stress without spoiling, retaining its viscosity even when cooked for a long time. This has opened up many creative possibilities in food processing. With more and more applications in the food industry being developed, modified starch promises to become more and more popular in the future.
