📌 #Idalia is now forecast to become a major hurricane before it reaches our Gulf Coast. The Red Cross urges everyone in its potential path to monitor local weather & be prepared for this storm. Follow these steps to be ready: ☑️ Make a Plan Determine your best protection from high winds and flooding. Have a plan to evacuate and a plan to shelter safely. Get help at redcross.org/hurricane. ☑️ Build an Emergency Kit Gather and organize supplies into a go-kit and a stay-at-home kit. If you already have a kit, check and refresh the supplies. Find a list of suggested supplies at redcross.org/kit. ☑️ Be Informed Find out how local officials will contact you during a disaster and how you will get important information, such as evacuation orders. Here are some tips to help you get ready: Create a hurricane plan for your home and family. This plan should include evacuation routes, contact information for emergency services, and a list of important documents to take with you. Have a go-bag packed with essential items. This should include food, water, first-aid supplies, and medications. Stay informed. Monitor the weather forecast and listen to local emergency broadcasts. Be prepared to evacuate if necessary. If you are told to evacuate, do so immediately. Here are some additional tips: Have a plan for your pets. Make sure you have a safe place for them to stay if you need to evacuate. Check on elderly neighbors and relatives. They may need help preparing for the storm. With the first hurricane of 2024 now named (already ~90mph winds) and an intense season forecasted, we will once again see the magic of what the power industry can do when it comes together. Everything from mutual aid to sharing of equipment to contract engineers and linemen traveling across the country to lend a hand. We are excited to be part of this magic and bring back this initiative we piloted last year. During emergencies, emergency access users with full functionality can be added without consuming a license and therefore no cost. #PowerView continues to be used to visualize and track efforts before, during, and after storms with all information in one spot with live reporting.
