Gathering around shared meals is the foundation of building strong relationships in your family & community. As a recently PCS’ed #militaryfamily, we are actively creating our new support network. Hosting 4 families this year means we are choosing wisely where we spend our time. One place I’m not spending it: DISHES! This is a sneak peak at our entirely disposable table settings- yes including the wood printed circle. Is it environmentally friendly? No. Does it help me keep the focus on the people around my table? Yes. When you know your limits & priorities, you become the expert on what’s best for you/ your family. Then, you can make decisions with confidence and keep your energy focused on what matters most to you! #nutritionexpert #familymeals #advocate

I don’t often share photos of my children publicly, so here’s a rarity. Those little colored specks on the top of the waterfall? That’s my crew. ❤️ Last weekend we booked a cabin in the mountains without cell signal or wifi. It was a much needed reset for all of us after 4 straight weeks of high-fiving each other for work trips, solo parent ops, and Mom starting a new position. One thing that’s a result of my life as a #militaryspouse is a learned love for cool mountain air and the sweet, earthy scent of a damp forest floor. I can trace this to our two tours (5 years total) at Eielson AFB near Fairbanks, Alaska. Being a #militaryfamily comes with lots of challenges, but it comes with really amazing experiences and growth opportunities as well. I’m so thankful for a family that embraces adventure and learns to love new things, like hiking in forests.

If you don't know what this image is, then you're too young for this post. 🧠This was my brain's processing speed after giving birth. My cognitive function went from fiberoptics to dial-up. Three months postpartum, I was so ready to get back to work, but my brain wouldn't cooperate. And it's infuriating to feel betrayed by your body. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳? 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳? 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩-𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘮 𝘐? There isn't an easy answer or simple solution. But there are stories from women who have been through it. 📘 Ten of these women are sharing their stories and answering your questions at 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘥: 𝘈 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 & 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘮. It's happening on Oct 23rd. It's free. And it's for working women who are: 🐔 preparing for pregnancy 🥚 pregnant, 🐣 or postpartum If you're curious about motherhood or beyond postpartum, you are also welcomed to register. If you have questions, my DMs are open. ♻️ Please share this post with your network. There is someone you care about who is looking for this kind of support even if she hasn't said anything yet.

BLUF: I asked Chief about her run-in with polar bear and a snowmachine. One of the highlights of last week at Military Influencer Conference was meeting JoAnne (Jo) Bass in person. Our conversation included my advocacy with briefing food insecurity to CORONA Spouses in 2022, the recent Air & Space Forces Association ENGAGE publications, and Fuel the Homefront from InDependent | The Space for Military Spouse Wellness, in addition so many thank yous for her continued leadership to our community. Then our conversation took an unbelievable turn with a story about a polar bear, a snow machine, and her Eielson AFB Cool School visit that happened during our second tour there. (A story that I was certain my husband made up to make me look like a fool when I asked her about it). He didn’t make it up. As Chief recounted the story to me, starting with, “Listen, any time your safety brief includes what to do in the case of brown bears or polar bears…” all I could do was laugh in disbelief and say, “Well, on behalf of Alaska, I’m sorry about the bear.” 🤣🤷🏼♀️ This interaction perfectly sums up the magic of MIC and experiencing LinkedIn in real life.

After 10 years of unemployment serving as a primary caregiver for our military family (with pockets of volunteerism, advocacy, and consulting as I was able), I'm thrilled to share that I’m starting a new position as Project Manager (Military Service and Support) at Heart of Alabama Food Bank!

Why did we do a cross country turn and burn as a family of 5 to watch the Air Force-Navy game? 🏈To show our kids daddy’s Alma mater and the program (USAFA Football) that grew him from a boy to a man. 🙋🏼♀️To say hello to friends and colleagues like Melissa Gilliam Shaw, Mary-Catherine LaBossiere, MPH RD LDN, and Evan Kaufman. ❤️To run into unexpected faces like Mike and Dianne Loh, who finally got to meet my crew. 🫡To take them onto the field with our Bolt Brotherhood family after the game and show them how the service academies pay respect to each other by singing their Alma maters. 🥰To demonstrate to our kids how to embrace the unique adventure of being an #AirForce family and invest in building a life you enjoy living. While we didn’t #sinknavy, the weekend was worth it. We haven’t always had the resources for trips like this, so it’s a joy to invest in experiences with the people we love.

In the midst of so many “wins,” that I’ve shared lately, let me share some of the messy, real side of life as a #militaryfamily. Between June 2021 to June 2024, we moved 3 times: Alabama to Interior Alaska to Virginia back to Alabama. My kids and I followed our guy, Daniel Campbell, to his first squadron command, then a high TDY staff gig, and now to school at Air University. That’s 10,000 miles of moving in just 36 months. My three kids have attended 5 schools in that time. We’ve lived in temporary lodging for a total of 6 months and had 3 different houses in 3 states. This book written my trusted friend and colleague, Beth Runkle, is perfectly timed for the season Team Campbell is in. Can’t wait to dig into this book while on my way to watch the United States Air Force Academy #sinkNavy this weekend. You can preorder on Amazon if it sounds like a book that might speak to your #militarymarriage.

One of the best parts of my #LinkedIn experience as a #militaryspouse and #advocate is that I can now call amazing women like Kayla Corbitt and Maria Quinn co-laborers, colleagues, and friends. It’s an honor to serve alongside you and cheer you on for all the things. Congrats to Kayla for her recognition as one of this year’s #Mighty25 for her work with Operation Child Care Project.
