🚛💼 The current state of the trucking industry is a "recipe for disaster," with record-high new truck prices, turbulent interest rates, and declining used truck values. In such uncertain times, partnering with an experienced provider like Wheels, Inc. Truck & Equipment can help navigate these challenges by offering prebuying solutions to secure equipment before regulations take place. EV’s have a place. As in small routes where they are back to dock/charge without interference in the drivers ability to perform their duties. Public service vehicles (garbage, city busses, utility vehicles etc). However Northern climates are not good fit for EV’s in the winter months and really cold temperatures. Take small EV’s (cars) for example. When you can charge and drive 300 or more miles (depending on speed, load, battery size and/or manufacturer) when the ambient temperature is 60 to 80 degrees or even into the 90’s. Then take the same vehicle, driver, load, charge, etc., and throw 20 degrees or below zero into the equation, the range will drop drastically. How are EV’s going to be a viable alternative for internal combustion vehicles in an already remote landscape with a very small and limited charging infrastructure that is barely being established for a limited amount of small cars? The power grid that supplies these stations is feeding off of the Bonneville Hydroelectric Damn on the Columbia River (yes the same one that some groups are trying to have removed). The northern states do not have the capacity for half of the passenger vehicles on the road becoming EV’s let alone adding commercial vehicles. Keep in mind that most of the charging stations in operation today are built for cars and trucks won’t be able to access the charge stations in most cases. Where are they going to charge them? We may never know. Let’s circle back to the southern states. Remember last summer on national news when California was having rolling blackouts? People were directed to shut off their A/C units and not charge their Tesla’s. When the trucks in CA are required to be zero emissions in coming years, are they going to shake a wand and charging stations will magically appear? Probably not! Are they going to advise to avoid non-essential power use at all costs and nobody can move around and have barely enough power so that trucks can deliver the fright needed to move in a day or a week? The American power grid is so far behind the curve in this matter that we don’t have a hope or prayer that this will work. Lest start establishing a more efficient grid that will support this a bit more before mandating this. Food for thought. Here is a great piece from the Washington Trucking Association (WTA). Please check it out. Keep in mind that the cost of equipment will skyrocket, productivity will decrease, volume capacity per truck will decrease due to equipment weight or the batteries needed to run it a fraction of the distance of an internal combustion vehicle and the price for goods will increase exponentially. Who shoulders that burden? We all do as the consumer, yes that’s all of us.
Washington Trucking Associations has repeatedly expressed concerns over the impact of these new regulations to #GovJayInslee and key legislative leaders. ACT’s implementation timeline is too aggressive and does not accommodate innovation or technological limitations. Time to pump the brakes and develop some understanding of the impact of ACT and pending ZEV mandates on industry in Washington State. #zeroemissions #trucking #ICE

Fantastic news! Here's the thing... if you're a truck owner / operator and you still want to do something about emissions... upgrade the Diesel fuel with GFT and drop the emissions down by 86%! That means instead of emitting 10,180 grams CO2/ gallon of Diesel (per EPA data), you'll emit 1,425 grams. Not by 2045 but in as little as two weeks! Plus, with the improvement to your emissions, you'll start getting up to 25% better fuel economy. Same truck you worked hard to pay off, with better fuel economy and cleaner emissions. If you want the details, comment #upgrade below.
