#SafetyBlitz24 WEEK 2 - we're halfway there! Our 4th Annual Safety Blitz is going strong 🦾 Join our Risk Managers and the Safety Mythbusters for our second week as we continue to discuss the very important topic of SEATBELTS. A Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) of some kind, often a forklift, is almost always present in cargo operations, warehouses, terminals, auto shops, loading docks, etc. The myth that a seatbelt is not needed is FALSE. We’re going to explore why… https://bit.ly/4gCqIdr
Myth: Seat belts on forklifts are just annoying accessories.

Heads Up, Truckers! Brake Safety Week 2024 is Almost Here! 🚛 Starting August 25th and running through August 31st, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is rolling out its annual Brake Safety Week across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This is a crucial time to make sure your rig's brakes are in top-notch condition! 🔍 What Will Inspectors Be Checking? While inspectors will look for any violations, brake linings and pads are the main focus this year. Here are some tips straight from the pros to help you prepare: 1. Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Regularly inspect your brake linings and pads for any visible issues. 2. Check for Missing Lining: Look for grooves in the drum from rivet contact. 3. Shoe-to-Drum Clearance: Make sure there’s adequate lining on the shoe. 4. Watch for Leaks: Any signs of leaks from the hub or other components could mean contamination. 5. No Missing Blocks/Pads: Ensure all linings and pads are present and accounted for. 6. Cracks or Voids: Look for any visible cracks or voids in the lining block. 7. Exposed Rivets: Check for exposed rivets or loose lining blocks on the shoe. 8. Disc Brakes: Pay close attention to rotor conditions, especially rust or metal-to-metal contact. 9. Repair Consistency: Make sure all repairs align with the manufacturer’s guidelines. 10. Report Issues: Note any problems in your inspection reports and get them fixed ASAP! 🚦 Why It Matters: Last year, nearly 13% of trucks inspected during Brake Safety Week were taken off the road due to brake-related violations. Don’t let that be you! So, get those brakes checked, stay compliant, and keep rolling safely. Let’s make this year’s Brake Safety Week a breeze! 👊 #BrakeSafetyWeek #TruckSafety #CVSA #Truckers #Maintenance #StaySafeOnTheRoad #BrakeInspection

🚜 Working with forklifts? Safety and efficiency are key! Here are some best practices to keep in mind: 1️⃣ Conduct Pre-Operation Inspections: Always perform a thorough inspection of your forklift before use. Check for any leaks, tire condition, and ensure all controls are functioning properly. 🛠️ 2️⃣ Wear Proper Safety Gear: Equip yourself with the necessary safety gear, including a hard hat, high-visibility vest, and steel-toed boots. Safety first! 👷♂️🦺 3️⃣ Follow Load Capacity Guidelines: Never exceed the forklift's load capacity. Distribute weight evenly and ensure loads are stable and secure before moving. ⚖️ 4️⃣ Maintain Clear Visibility: Make sure you have a clear view of your path. If visibility is obstructed, use a spotter to guide you. Adjust mirrors and seat position for optimal visibility. 👀 5️⃣ Operate at Safe Speeds: Adhere to designated speed limits and drive at a controlled pace. Slow down when turning and avoid sudden stops. 🚦 6️⃣ Use Horn and Lights: Use the horn to alert others when approaching corners or blind spots, and ensure the forklift’s lights are functioning for better visibility. 📢💡 7️⃣ Stay Alert and Focused: Always stay attentive and avoid distractions. Keep a lookout for pedestrians and obstacles in your path. 👀🚧 By following these best practices, you can ensure a safer and more efficient work environment when operating forklifts. Share these tips with your team to promote a culture of safety! #ForkliftSafety #WorkplaceSafety #GRTraining 🚜🏗️

Safety First! Here's a video that highlights the importance of safety when working on vehicle suspension systems. This serves as a crucial reminder of the potential dangers involved in dealing with spring coils. Some key lessons we can learn from this: 1. Always use the proper and right tools, including spring compressors, to safely handle suspension components. 2. Wearing your PPE especially safety goggles and other protective equipment can save you from serious injuries. 3. Familiarize yourself with the mechanics of the system you’re working on. Believe me KNOWLEDGE is power! and if you’re unsure, don’t hesitate to consult a professional. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Have you had any experiences that taught you the importance of safety in vehicle maintenance? I'd love to hear your stories in the comments below! 👇 #carmaintenance #safetyfirst #automotive #suspension #spring #damper

While pedestrians have the right-of-way when it comes to OSHA forklift pedestrian safety rules, that doesn’t prevent accidents from happening. Forklifts are dangerous; weighing as much as six cars, despite their smaller size. With just a few steps, you can dramatically increase your pedestrian safety around forklifts: 1️⃣ Use overhead and rear-view mirrors on forklifts 2️⃣ Ensure alarms and flashing signals are in working order on all warehouse forklifts 3️⃣ Mark pedestrian walkways in warehouse locations with forklift traffic 4️⃣ Restrict specific areas to forklift traffic only 5️⃣ Add handrails to increase pedestrian safety around forklifts 6️⃣ Limit overhead door access to forklifts and use man doors for pedestrians

🛑🛑 STABILITY TRIANGLE 🛑🛑 ✨✨Almost all counterbalanced powered industrial trucks have a three point suspension system ,,✨that is, the vehicle is supported at three points. The truck's steer axle is attached to the truck by a pivot pin in the axle's center. ✨ ✨When the points are connected with imaginary lines, this three-point support forms a triangle called the stability triangle.✨ ✨As long as the center of gravity of the load is within this stability triangle, the industrial truck will not tip over.✨ ⚡simple ways to avoid a tip - over.⚡ 💫💫Do not turn sharply, even with an empty raised mast, to avoid a tip-over! 💫💫When turning a corner, reduce speed to a safe level consistent with the operating environment. 💫💫Do not make fast or sharp turns with a loaded or unloaded lift truck! 💫💫Do not tilt elevated loads forward! 💫💫Avoid fast starts, turns and sudden stops! 💫💫Watch “tail swing!” 💫💫Be aware of the stability of an empty lift truck! 💫operators should thoroughly understand and heed safety instructions in their Operations and Maintenance Manuals so they can completely understand how to avoid tip-overs as well as actions to take if one occurs. #workersafety #heavyequipment #heavymachinery #portsandterminals #shippingindustry #shipping #shippingworldwide #forklift #hse #hseprofessionals #terminaloperations #ports

Order pickers are highly efficient vehicles but significantly different than standard forklifts. Use these 5 Tips to ensure safe, efficient operation: 1. Training: Ensure comprehensive training on the vehicle. 2. Know Your Limits: Understand the capacity of your order picker and never exceed it. 3. Navigate with Caution: Identify and plan for obstacles to avoid accidents --narrow aisles, overhead obstructions, and pedestrian traffic. 4. Gear Up: Utilize all available safety equipment, including safety harnesses, closed operator area gates, and appropriate PPE. 5. Hands-on Control: Keep both hands on the drive controls while in motion. #SafetyFirst #OrderPickerTips #EfficiencyBoost
