Did you know the latest survey results reveal a surge in confidence among municipalities as they plan for 2024? Thanks to funding from grants and increased efforts from consulting engineering companies, cities are catching up on critical water and sewer projects. But that's not all - with $115 billion needed for sewer updates, $90 billion for water, and $25 billion for stormwater in the short term, the demand for innovative solutions and efficient project completion has never been higher. Plus, the preference for trenchless methods is stable at 45%, indicating a shift towards less invasive and faster solutions. #UndergroundInfrastructure #SewerInfrastructure  

As Austin's population continues to grow, the city's infrastructure must evolve to meet rising demands. The Austin City Council's approval of over $1 billion to upgrade and expand the Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is a testament to this commitment. This facility, originally built in 1977, is one of Austin Water’s two major plants that treat wastewater before discharging it into the Colorado River. The project will increase the plant's capacity from 75 million gallons per day to 100 million gallons per day, ensuring compliance with state regulations and supporting the city's population growth. Key components of the project include a $900 million construction contract with MWH and a $71 million amendment to an engineering services contract with AECOM Technical Services, among other funding for related upgrades. The expansion will add a new treatment train and modernize the plant’s existing infrastructure to enhance efficiency and reliability.
