Lighting a historic building can often be a challenging task💡 Before installing external lighting, consideration must be given to: the location of the building; how much light is needed; any neighbouring properties that could be affected, and the position of the lightning. It goes without saying that listed building consent is almost always required where new lighting is to be installed. Want to learn more about illuminating historic buildings, both internally and externally? 🌉 The Golden Gate Bridge is a true icon! Connecting San Francisco to Marin County, this stunning bridge was built during the Great Depression, from 1933 to 1937, providing jobs during tough times. It's 1.7 miles long, with its main span stretching 4,200 feet, making it one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. The bridge’s striking orange color, chosen for visibility in fog, makes it stand out. Whether you're driving, walking, or biking, the views are absolutely breathtaking! On average, about 112,000 vehicles cross it daily, showing how crucial it is for the area. Pedestrians and cyclists enjoy dedicated walkways, offering incredible views of the bay and skyline. The design features art deco elements and was a collaboration between Joseph Strauss, Irving Morrow, and Charles Ellis. The bridge has faced and withstood strong ocean currents, fog, and winds, making it an engineering marvel. It’s also a cultural icon, appearing in numerous films and TV shows. When it opened, the toll was 50 cents each way; today, it’s $8.40 heading into San Francisco. The Golden Gate Bridge celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2012 with events and fireworks. It's not just a transportation link but a symbol of human creativity and determination. 🌟✨ ―――――――― #GoldenGateBridge #SanFrancisco #EngineeringMarvel #IconicLandmark #GreatDepression #ArtDeco #Innovation #CulturalIcon #CivilEngineering. #Engineering #STEM #Infrastructure #Construction #EngineeringLife #UrbanPlanning #SustainableEngineering #StructuralEngineering #ProjectManagement #BuildingDesign #ConstructionTech #EngineeringInnovation #EngineeringExcellence #FutureOfEngineering #EngineeringSolutions #EngineeringProjects #EngineeringCommunity #EngineeringCareers #EngineeringStudents
