The United States introduced legislation that would formalize a 32-hour workweek According to data tracked by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, American workers already work more, on average, than their international counterparts, averaging 1,811 hours a year, about 3.4% more than the OECD average. The U.S. is also the country with the highest number of employees working over 40 hours a week. The implementation of artificial intelligence technology in various fields, from manufacturing to white collar desk jobs, could propel more companies, and perhaps someday the government, to consider a 32-hour week. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) introduced legislation that would formalize a 32-hour workweek in the United States.

The secret weapion against quiet quitting. The Great Resignation has evolved into the quiet quitting phenomenon. A staggering 54% of employees https://lnkd.in/ebSR2S5S admit to doing the bare minimum at work. This disengagement costs companies dearly, impacting productivity, innovation, and customer satisfaction. But fear not! There's a secret weapon against quiet quitting: fostering a workplace employees truly love. Boost skill application: They practice new behaviors in a safe environment. Increase engagement: They become invested in their own growth. Building a Workplace Employees Love Here's how person-centered experiential learning, facilitated by All Method, can help you build that dream workplace: Empowerment: We help employees discover their strengths and personalise learning journeys. Collaboration: Our workshops foster teamwork and communication, vital for a positive work environment. The best thing that happened this week and I wasn’t even there…. All I had to do was say YES!! This week Caroline McDonald worked remotely from sunny Cornwall. How? 🥰 Task orientated goals 🥰 Connectivity and equipment to keep working 🥰 Total trust between us both 🥰 An open mind With the summer holidays here, being able to offer flexibility for working parents is a game changer. It requires trust but it’s absolutely possible for so many jobs. The largest 4-day a week trial in the UK by South Cambridgeshire District Council saved them £370k a year due to reduced staff turnover. Asda has axed plans for a 4-day work week, due to worker complaints of exhaustion. And Greece has introduced a 6-day work week for some industries, aimed at improving the country's economy. Guess the effectiveness of changing traditional work schedules is still up for debate 🤷 #WorkLifeBalance #WorkWeek #Productivity #Economy

Germany To Consider 4-Day Workweek Starting this month, 45 German companies and organizations will introduce a 4-day workweek for half a year to deal with the labor shortage. Despite working less, employees will continue to receive their full salary. Since 2019, 4 Day Week Global has been running pilot programs around the world. An experiment of 3,000 workers in the U.K. found 40% of participants in the 4-day workweek reported feeling less stressed, and the number of resignations decreased by 57%. In theory, employees who work four days are more motivated and will therefore be more productive. #workculture #workbetter #workingprofessionals #workbetter #relax

Transforming the mindset and operational practices of businesses through the implementation of advanced Human Capital Management and Payroll strategies
Australia’s new right to disconnect, effective later this month, marks a significant shift in workplace culture. This provision allows employees to refuse out-of-hours contact from their employers, reinforcing the importance of maintaining work-life boundaries. As we move forward, it's crucial for businesses and employees alike to embrace this change, ensuring that everyone’s time is respected. This is a positive step towards creating healthier, more balanced work environments across the country. #WorkLifeBalance #EmployeeWellbeing #FairWorkAustralia #RightToDisconnect

Some interesting news from my neck of the woods regarding a 4-day work week... South Cambridgeshire District Council have been trialling a 4-day work week at full pay and have reported: ✅ Improved performance. ✅ Improved staff retention. ✅ It's now easier to hire staff! It first started with back office staff and was extended to include refuse workers. The government is now looking to pass a new law to stop this... 🤐 The Local Government Association carried out a peer review and reported that staff had no time for training and had been left "feeling drained" by having to fit five days of work into four. Interesting to see this from both sides. ❔ Should this be stopped if performance is improving? ❓ Do you think squeezing your week into 4 days would leave you feeling drained? Link to the article in the comments. #4dayweek #staffretention #hiringprocess

It's exciting to read about the evolution of the working landscape! The Guardian reported on a four-day working week trial by the South Cambridgeshire council. The results over a 15 month period? Staff turnover fell by 39%, saving £371,500. Planning applications were decided approx a week and a half earlier than usual. 15% more major planning applications were completed in time, when previously they were late. There seems to be more and more good news about adopting a shorter work week for both organisations and employees! What do you think? 🤔 #linkedinconversation #recruitmentscotland
