Nevada Reading Week is one of my favorites- as a mom, author and former teacher & forever eager reader. Nevada Reading Week's Mission: Inspiring and instilling the joy and importance of reading across Nevada. Did you know that higher exposure to even hearing words leads to greater literacy skills and future success. Children who become proficient readers can build confidence and expertise in any area at the turn of a page and is a critical component of helping them thrive. This year I got to read to several classes at Perkins Elementary. I visited classes back to back without a break (insert sweat) and it took me back to my classroom days at Two Rivers Public Charter School and I was reminded as I often am; 1. How critical reading is (including reading alouds). 2. How phenomenal teachers are! Thank a teacher today and every single day and consider ways you can help develop a future eager reader. (and sometimes it can simply be by holding a conversation)

📚 Hey Teachers and Parents! 🧑🏫👩👧 Ever heard of r-controlled vowels? They're a key part of early reading skills! When a vowel is followed by an "r," it changes how the vowel sounds. For example, in words like "car," "bird," and "fur," the "r" takes over, giving the vowel a unique sound. This rule helps kids decode and pronounce words more accurately. Let's support our young readers by practicing these special vowel sounds together! 🌟✏️📖 #EarlyLiteracy #ReadingSkills #EducationTips
