Grange Park Opera is really putting effort (AKA £££) into their Facebook advertising at the moment. I'm seeing lots of it with quite a few different creatives. Their targeting is good - I browse quite a bit of opera (TBH for my job, mostly), so I'm in the in-market pot. Their timing is good - they opened a week ago. But there's one creative in particular that has pinged my annoyance receptors: "World class opera. Without the irksome flights to Milan." The facetious part of me thinks it's probably easier to fly to Milan than get a South West Train to Horsley. And the music professional part of me thinks I could also get world-class opera 30 miles away at Covent Garden. And OK, I admit it, the grammar nerd part of me thinks 'World-class' should be hyphenated. 🤣 I'm also not a big fan of advertising and marketing which lingers on a negative or disses one thing over your own thing. It's just a bit... gauche. Although it attempts to address the audiences' need or problem, rather than focus on the product, which is what classical music advertising usually goes for, it misses the mark. Does anyone actually think "I'd really like to see some opera; but getting a flight is a real drag"? For some opera buffs, I would think seeing an opera at La Scala (to which I assume they are referring) might actually be a bucket list item, not a chore. It just feels a bit too much like an agency did a SWOT analysis and ran with it a bit too far. I'm not hating on GPO's marketing team. It's good to see a classical music company experimenting with something a little different, and it has at least made me notice it. I'm more than happy to be persuaded that this approach does have merits... feel free to disagree with me in the comments.

Opera Cloud - How to book a reservation. You can book future date or walk-in reservations using the Look to Book Sales screen, which provides you with room type, rates and pricing options for the reservation dates entered. 1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Look To Book Sales Screen. 2. Enter the caller and/or contact information (if applicable) and then click New Reservation. 3. In the search panel enter the various criteria . a. Single Rate: Click to create a single leg reservation (default). b. Multi-segment: Click to create a multi-leg reservation. c. Stay Options: - Arrival: Enter or select the arrival date. - Nights: Enter the number of nights; the departure date is updated. - Departure: Enter or select the departure date. - Rooms: Enter the number of rooms required; a multi-room reservation needs to be split into separate reservations prior to arrival. - Adults: Enter the number of adults in the room. - Children: Enter the children in the room. d. Profile Options -Name:. Click to search for an existing guest profile. - New Profile:. Click to create a new guest profile. - Membership Number:. Click to search for guest profile by membership number. - Company:. Click to search for company profile to link to the reservation. - Travel Agent: Click to search for Travel Agent profile to link to the reservation. - Block Code: Click to search for a Block to link to the reservation (pickup inventory from the Block allocation). e. Rate and Room Options: -Room Features: Select one or more room features from the list. Look to Book displays room types with the selected Features. Multiple selection is treated as an "OR" type search. For example, if Bath Tub and Hair Dryer are selected then the search is for room types that have either the Bath Tub or the Hair Dryer as feature. -Room Types: Select one or more room types from the lost. - Rate Codes: Select one or more rate codes from the list. - Rate Category: Select one or more rate categories from the list. - Promotion: Select a promotion from the list. Look to Book displays rate codes linked to the promotion. - Smoking Preference: Select a smoking preference from the list. Look to Book displays room types with the selected smoking preference. - Include Closed Rates. Select to include closed rate in the availability search. 4. Minimum Stay Availability displays each room type and the minimum (including non-deduct) number of available rooms. 5. Rates for each room type available are displayed, grouped by Display Set. 6. Click More Display Sets to add all other display sets to the result. 7. Click a rate and room type cell to view more information about the rate and room type; including package item inclusions. a. Click View Policies to view the Deposit and Cancellation Policy per reservation type for the rate. b. Click Select to select this rate and room type for the new reservation or drag the cell to the Trip Composer panel. 8. Book Now page is displayed.

Opera has been my default desktop and mobile web browser for a long time -- for so many reasons. First and foremost, the UI is clean and unobtrusive. With the option of moving the search bar to the bottom of the page, I can easily use the browser with one hand, which --- for me, at least -- makes for more efficient browsing. There's also easy access to Reader Mode (which can be added to the address bar) to help get rid of distractions when trying to read content. Also: I replaced Google Search with Opera's Aria AI feature and I don't miss the former one bit For my purposes, Opera is -- hands down -- the best choice for ensuring the most efficient browsing experience.
