Buildings are monument to the values of the people who build them. I am so proud to have the first commercial installation of Sublime Cement in the largest net-zero-carbon office building in Boston, at WS Development's One Boston Wharf.
In the future we won’t need to designate net-zero-carbon buildings because it will be the norm. But it takes bold thinkers to move us into that future, and it was an honor to work with Yanni Tsipis on this, as someone who just “gets it.”
Last week a consortium of Boston area architects, engineers, and builders from the Carbon Leadership Forum unveiled a report on what it takes to decarbonize concrete, and two things stood out to me as critical:
--> Clear carbon reduction goals starting with the building owner
--> Collaboration across the many players in the construction ecosystem who aren’t traditionally used to thinking about how they buy cement.
This project perfectly exemplified both, thanks to incredible collaborators who made this happen, across Turner Construction Company, BOSTON SAND & GRAVEL CO, S&F Concrete Contractors, Corp, Gensler, and McNamara • Salvia, Structural Engineers.

It takes bold, forward-thinking innovators to move us into our post-carbon future. That’s not just the inventors of technology, but those responsible for its adoption and implementation. Their choice to do the daring thing today will enable low-carbon, climate-friendly technologies to become the standard choice.
We were honored to work with one such innovator, Yanni Tsipis of WS Development on the first commercial installation of Sublime Cement™ in their new One Boston Wharf building earlier this month.
Thank you to Canary Media Inc.’s Jeff St. John for taking a closer look at how it all came together, alongside partners Turner Construction Company, S&F Concrete Contractors, Corp, and BOSTON SAND & GRAVEL CO. Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gjpR49JZ
