It took me 7 years. To learn the impact my initial conditions have on the present. I was a medical student, doing my rotation in inpatient psychiatry in 2017 when these two men changed the course of my career. On my right, my attending, Dr. B. - a skilled psychopharmacologist and pragmatic clinician. To my left, Dr. Peyman Tashkandi - A resident physician with the most profound foundation of knowledge in philosophy I had ever met at the time. Today, at Mugen Psychiatry our clinical philosophy is guided by sound psychopharmacology and our therapeutic approach is rooted in CBT and Existentialism. Initial conditions have either been the: 1. Foundations I build upon 2. Lessons informing me on what not to do Either way, initial conditions have a lasting effect.
