Back in the office: coffee, cubicles, and finicky software. Pick your poison. 𝟮. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀. We’ll call you a ‘GIS Specialist’ but expect you to also be a database administrator, programmer, and psychic. 𝟯. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝗯. GIS stands for "Getting It Sorted"… or so it seems most days. 𝟰. “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝘁 𝗕𝗲?” Oh, the sweet summer children who don’t realize that their 10-minute map request includes a 10-hour geoprocessing odyssey. 𝟱. 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. Much of the time GIS folks are having a heartfelt conversation with our monitor, begging it to just georeference the plat correctly this one time.
