Assignment writing today, gathering data from Skills for Care and Norfolk Insights webpages. There is such a wide range of valuable data to draw upon, well worth a look - although it's hard to know when to stop! Top tip - maybe set a timer! One interesting statIstic I noted is that over half of people in Norfolk drive to work... 🚗 Given the rural nature of our beautiful county this isn't surprising. But the significant high costs, drain upon time and environmental impacts of doing so, opens up a conversation - there are fulfilling careers in adult social care that are right up your street, literally! Take a look on https://lnkd.in/gk-4NSr or make contact directly with local employers. We must continuously challenge ourselves in our approaches to candidate attraction. Evidence-based decision making underpins effective recruitment practices... Now back to the assignment...

🌟 Celebrating Good News in Connecticut's Employment Market 🌟 Exciting news from the state's largest business organization! The February 2024 employment report reveals steady growth, with the addition of 900 jobs. This positive trend sets a promising tone for the year ahead. Kudos to CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima for highlighting the increase in Connecticut's labor force by 4,000 in February and 20,000 year-over-year. However, it's important to note that while there are 90,000 job openings, approximately 86,000 people are still seeking employment. This calls for collaborative efforts to ensure that everyone seeking a second chance can benefit from this momentum. It's heartening to witness more individuals participating in the labor market, but we must collectively work on skills-based workforce development initiatives to bridge the gap between job seekers and available opportunities. Connecticut employers are experiencing strong demand for their products and services, underscoring the urgent need for a comprehensive solution to address the labor shortage. It's imperative for policymakers to enact measures that not only make Connecticut more affordable but also create inclusive opportunities for all residents. Let's work together to sustain this positive trajectory and ensure that everyone has access to the opportunities they deserve. #Employment #Opportunity #Collaboration #ConnecticutEconomy

**I am rephrasing this post to avoid any assumption of negativity** Has anyone ever completed an “Voluntary Exit” survey/questionaire? I received one from a third party and it asked me multiple (personal) questions including: 1) The top two reasons for ending my employment there, 2) What they could have done to make me want to stay 3) If I was going to get an increase in pay for my new position, and 4) The pay range of my new position After two attempts, i decided that this was info for myself and my new employer only. If I was that valuable this could have been discussed (it actually was briefly) before my exit. If I was dismissed from the position, they would not be obligated to provide me a reason (see wording in hiring paperwork) so why would they expect me to oblige? Now obviously this survey is voluntary, but has anyone completed it?

👏 NOT ALL LABOR IS PAID LABOR! 👏 It does not matter if you took time off of paid work for your mental or physical health, to take care of someone else or you were just vibing. Not only do employers need to understand this but candidates need to be confident about it in the interview process. You can answer the interviewer's questions without mentioning that you had a break without paid labor. You can also mention it with the confidence that you were doing what was best for you at the time. It's up to you! Don't know how to answer specific questions? Just ask! #ISaidWhatISaid #EndTheStigma #ResumeGaps

We will be releasing our 2024 Executive Search Compensation Report at the start of April. In the run up to the release, we are excited to start sharing some of the data in this year's report. This year, we went further by looking at data that can help our clients with staff retention. We asked all respondents: "What opportunities to advance your career lie ahead?" The top answer was - Opportunity to be promoted to Partner and "What's inhibiting you from advancing your career?" The top answer was - Lack of upward mobility If you are running a search firm, it is imperative your staff have a clear progression and promotion path. Whether is it milestone based or time based, it should be transparent and fair. Based on the data we have received, it will keep your best staff motivated and less likely to explore new opportunities.
