Love seeing cutting edge tech specifically for women. Blood analysis from blood naturally shed by women: so straightforward, yet has never really been on the books. It's amazing that we often can't think out of the box (= male bodies) for innovation. Another huge sector to disrupt: wearables. They are called wearables as "we" have to wear them. But as women, we could have seamless devices: "insertables". Like a tampon. Imagine the use cases: instead of taking your body basal temperature with a thermometer or with a device you wear, you have a local insertable device that measures temperature (technically to be analysed); change in vaginal pH, detect ovulation by analysing locally cervical fluids and position of the organs,... Lot to facilitate women's lives. Exciting times we're living in!!
I am so incredibly excited to share the news that the world's first diagnostic menstrual pad, the Q-Pad, has obtained FDA Clearance! This is undoubtedly the most meaningful milestone on what has been a nearly decade long journey. Back in 2014 when I was still a medical student, I was eager to find a way to provide care for patients more regularly, and less invasively. I was shocked to find little to no data on how menstrual blood, a fluid that 2 billion women have access to every month, could be used to improve healthcare. It was then that I and the Qvin team set out to prove that menstrual blood is not waste, but a medical wonder, refusing to take shortcuts as we did. Tens of thousands of hours spent on trials, thousands of pages of novel research, and many peer reviewed papers later, we’ve now passed the highest bar that exists for medical products by receiving the FDA’s stamp of approval. All those years ago, we believed that menstrual blood could be as powerful for diagnostics as normal blood. The data, the science and the regulators have now all weighed in: it is. Our first clearance is in particular around the A1c test. We can confidently report that the testing of menstrual blood using the Q-Pad is as precise as if the sample was taken at your doctors offices from a venous blood draw. The icing on the cake? The Q-Pad is so novel that the FDA had to create an entirely new product category for us which, appropriately, has a code starting with ‘Q’ 😊 I simply cannot express enough gratitude to the Qvin team, and our supporters, who have poured their sweat, tears and blood (of course 😉) into getting us here. Now the real fun (and hard work) begins, as we make this breakthrough accessible to the women of the world. Menstrual blood - the most overlooked opportunity in women’s health, a waste product, and in many cultures still a stigma and taboo - is as of today no longer just waste but in fact a valuable, accessible and non-invasive source of health information. Expect a lot more on this topic in 2024! Let’s go!
Love this space! Can you connect us. Would love to see if we can layer Biological Age on top!
Spot on Hélène! We need wearables, and insertables designed for women’s bodies and our health journeys.
Exciting times ahead!
Thanks for sharing H! Sara Naseri this is amazing, can’t wait to read more about Qvin
So so so cool! Here comes the revolution!
Excellent.
This is very exciting Hélène Guillaume Pabis!
Absolutely!! Embracing cutting-edge technology tailored for women's unique needs is a fantastic step forward.
Wow this is so cool! Looking forward to following their journey and seeing what results and data come from it!
This is just amaaaazing - go science!
