Accelerating the fight against malaria requires a holistic approach, including good sanitation, a clean environment, and safe water. These measures not only directly reduce mosquito breeding grounds but also enhance overall community health, strengthening resistance to the disease. Access to clean water and sanitation facilities empowers communities to protect themselves, complementing traditional prevention methods like bed nets and insecticide spraying. By prioritizing these initiatives, we can make significant strides in eliminating malaria and improving public health globally.
HAPPY WORLD MALARIAL DAY
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 3 is Health and Well-being, ensuring access to quality healthcare for everyone, at all ages. The aim, by 2030, is to eliminate preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5, with all countries striving to reduce neonatal and under-5 mortality.
Among the strategies to achieve this goal are ending epidemics and other communicable diseases, including a social focus on family planning, prevention, and treatment of substance abuse, such as the use of narcotics and harmful alcohol consumption, among other factors.
Brazil Potash, through its affiliate Potássio do Brasil, adhering to ESG principles, has 30 socio-economic-environmental projects aligned with SDG 3 for implementation in the region where the Autazes Potash Project will be executed in the Amazonas. These include environmental education programs, endemic disease prevention programs, and others, ensuring food security and social responsibility towards the communities.

The just ended Urban Livelihoods Assessment data collection process was a thought-provoking one as I got to talk to mothers, caregivers and household heads about their livelihoods. Their contribution to the process is vital in the creation of a comprehensive national information system on food and nutrition security.

🌍 "One Health, One Future: The Role of Social Development in Preventing Zoonotic Diseases" 🌍
Today (06.07.24), on World Zoonoses Day, we recognize the critical intersection between #humanhealth, #animalhealth and our shared environment. Zoonoses, diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans, remind us of the interconnectedness of our world and the importance of a holistic approach to health and development.
In the social development sector, we have a unique responsibility to address these challenges. By fostering #communityawareness, #promotingeducation and supporting #sustainablepractices, we can mitigate the risks of zoonotic diseases and build healthier societies.
On this day, let's reaffirm our commitment to creating a healthier, more resilient world for all. Together, we can prevent zoonotic diseases and promote a future where humans and animals coexist in harmony.

Wildlife and domesticated animals are awash in the bird flu virus (most recently found in mice), worsened by human diminished ecosystems and social inequities. Providing plenty of opportunities for mutations and viral recombination. The human family is poised upon the precipice of a pandemic that could be orders of magnitude more deadly and disruptive than what was recently experienced. Many experts (yes, experts, people who spend their lives studying something objectively and speak with nuanced authority) believe a bird flu pandemic is just a matter of time. As an aside, it's hard to imagine how the necessary public health investments to avoid and/or minimize the consequences of a catastrophic bird flu pandemic and other urgent global health needs will come about other than from peace-making, democracy, international law, and demilitarization. https://lnkd.in/euSkDucV#pandemic#birdflu#publichealth#investment#peace | More: https://lnkd.in/eiMT9naX

🚨 The Director-General of the World Health Organization has declared mpox a public health emergency of international concern under the International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR).
🌍 This declaration underscores the importance of strengthening One Health systems for pandemic preparedness, increasing society's resilience to disease outbreaks, and ensuring the health of people, animals, and ecosystems.
📑 In this insightful article, Dr Gabrielle Laing, our Senior Policy Advisor on One Health, examines the case for, and benefits of, a One Health approach to strengthen everyday health systems.
