To celebrate the UN’s World Ocean Day, here’s a gorgeous short video of the magnificent ocean (plus all the wind sound effects!) taken by our own Cormac Gebruers, Group External Affairs Manager. Oceans cover 70% of the planet and produces over 50% of our oxygen. It is vital to humanity, and also to our operations at DP Energy as well. Ocean winds are also the strongest and most consistent (and reliable) on the planet, making them a fantastic endless source of cost effective, sustainable energy. Our Ocean Energy initiatives utilise our vast water resources to create electricity from the power of waves, known as Wave Energy, and tides, known as Tidal Energy. In creating all forms of energy, we also work to enhance marine biodiversity, aiming to leave the ocean just as we found it; or better. One example is our Gwynt Glas floating offshore wind farm project, where we work with Falmouth Harbour and charities Sea-Changers and OUR ONLY WORLD to install ‘reef cubes’ – structures made from recycled aggregate and sand by ARC Marine, that enhance marine biodiversity. We are working to install 14 of these cubes in the harbour waters and they will support marine ecosystems by providing living spaces for fish, crabs and lobsters, and allow marine plants to grow on their surface. This partnership aligns with our mission to drive sustainable innovation and maximise local benefits from our projects, wherever possible. This film is the first one I watched from the great Miyazaki, I remember an old videotape player and a pyjama party at my friend Marion BELLAMY-AGBE. Thie movie is not just visually stunning but also a 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀 that are so relevant today. Happy Earth Day from Naue! 🌍💚🌳 At Naue, we're passionate about building a sustainable future for our planet. That's why we develop innovative geosynthetics solutions that minimize environmental impact. This Earth Day, we're reflecting on the power of making smart choices. Did you know that switching from compacted clay liners to our Bentofix® geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) can significantly reduce your project's CO2 footprint? Here's a simple example: sealing 4,500 square meters with Bentofix® requires just ONE truck, compared to a whopping 187 trucks needed for the same area using traditional compacted clay! That's a massive reduction in transport emissions and a huge win for the environment. We believe that every step towards sustainability counts. By choosing Naue, you're not just building strong, reliable structures – you're also building a greener future. Let us celebrate the beauty of our planet and pledge to do our part to protect it! #EarthDay #Sustainability #Geosynthetics #Naue #BuildGreen P.S. Did you know that today, 5th of June, is the World Environment Day 2024? In case you didn't - World Environment Day is a day to increase awareness of global environmental problems and inspire people to take action to protect the environment. This year's themes are accelerating land restoration, drought resilience & desertification progress - the issues that we increasingly face due the people's behaviours to consume more than necessarily, to accept products and lifestyles consuming and destroying planet Earth's resources. It is mandatory that we all increase our awareness and take actions to safe our planet. I write this post in Stockholm, where I am meeting our EG A/S and EG EnerKey new colleagues from Mestro. Together we are addressing and building solutions to enable our customers to drive their energy efficiency and sustainability agendas fact-based. What I am impressed is not just the great team of Mestro but also the passion how they drive the overall sustainability awareness in the Swedish industry. So important, so purposeful! But, then again, I should not be surprised, as Sweden has a long history of sustainability and protecting the environment. In 1967, Sweden was the first country in the world to pass an environmental protection act! That is a topic to be proud of!
