Do you know the difference between Tier and Step? Football leagues in England are broken down into different tiers of football; professional, semi-professional and amateur leagues, the top of which is the Premier League (Tier 1). After that, the Championship, League One and League Two are the remaining professional leagues. The non-League system in the UK is often referred to using steps, with step 1 (tier 5) being the National League, step 2 (tier 6) being National League North and South etc. We hope this helps for many of you who have maybe confided these two data points on your profile, or not know how to differentiate. www.inscoutnetwork.co.uk

What if the key to safer rugby league collisions lies in the power of three? 🤔 New insights from Dixon et al. highlight that simultaneous contact during tackles—where three players engage—significantly reduces injury risks. This approach not only enhances control but could change how we train players for the inevitable collisions of the game. With the increase in concussion-related injuries, understanding and implementing safer tackling techniques is crucial for the future of the sport. How are you adapting your strategies to prioritize safety in contact sports? Stay updated on important findings like these by subscribing at https://lnkd.in/gf5BJXMe. This is HUGE news! As much as I believe that the move to professionalization is needed to move the sport forward, the lack of clubs within certain areas/regions is concerning. As someone who is involved in netball in Scotland, I fear this could have huge implications. Not only at an elite level, but particularly at grassroots, through player pathways, and for umpires and coaches. I am excited to see what the new era of netball brings, however I do hope there are plans in the near future to ensure that the Super League is accessible for and representative of the whole of the UK (including Scotland, NI, the South West, etc). #NetballSuperLeague #SportDevelopment
Ready to embark on a new era of transformational change 💪 Following a robust tender process over the past eight months, we’re excited to confirm the eight successful teams set to compete in the relaunched Netball Super League from 2025: 🏐 Birmingham Panthers, LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons, Leeds Rhinos, London Mavericks, London Pulse Netball Super League Team, Loughborough Lightning [Loughborough Sport], Manchester Thunder and Nottingham Forest Netball [Nottingham Forest Football Club] 🏐 The eight clubs have been selected due to their ability to deliver the on and off court advancements needed to raise the standards of the league. With powerful new ownership and investment models coming into the league, the new-look competition will be built on stronger foundations as it embarks on a 10-year journey to full professionalisation. For the upcoming season, 50% of games will be played at major arenas across the country, whilst all games will be available to watch from home. Is shooting from outside of the box a dying art in football? According to BBC, the percentage of non-penalty goals scored from outside of the box has been gradually decreasing over the past couple of decades - from 22.3% in The Premier League in 2006 to nearly half that at 12.4% in 2023/24. In the last season, this type of goals made up the lowest share of total goals in any Premier League season. In addition, the average short distance (m) across Europe's top 5 leagues has been decreasing as well - learn more in this article: #premierleague #bbc #footballdata #footballstats #footballanalytics

One of the best solutions on the current state of South African football. - APPOINTMENT OF SKILLED AND EDUCATED MANAGEMENT Limited finances can be very challenging for football clubs aiming for long-term sustainability, especially in a country that has economic challenges like South Africa. However Skilled managers with atleast an educational background may play an important role in reducing financial challenges for football clubs. Their expertise in financial management enables efficient resource allocation and strategic decision-making. 1. By prioritizing investments that yield long-term value and fostering innovation. 2. They can navigate limited finances while positioning the club for sustained success. 3. Their ability to enhance the club's reputation and formulate great marketing strategies attracts potential sponsors and partners, further boosting financial support. The current state of South African football. We need to find more sustainable solutions to protect the long term prospects of our football clubs and league as a whole. We are losing clubs with vast histories and massive fan bases. Where does this all end? Would love to hear your thoughts and where we go from here. #football #psl

Championing a Winning Culture in Football During my time working with Ange Postecoglou at club level, where we clinched back-to-back national titles, Ange fostered a culture of unwavering excellence. He expected commitment to a winning mentality from everyone involved—be it players, staff, board members, fans, sponsors, or support personnel. This ethos promotes a positive, forward-thinking environment that propels everyone toward an ultimate collective goal of supreme success. Yet, this drive contrasts starkly with instances in recent days at Spurs where fans preferred their team to lose to prevent a rival, like Arsenal, from winning the title. Choosing this over maintaining hopes for a Champions League spot not only undermines a winning culture but also highlights a deeper systemic issue at Spurs. A genuine passion for football should encourage striving for victory in every match, elevating the club's ambitions rather than compromising them. Ange’s reaction is very typical and understandable. He wants to be surrounded by winners who don’t compromise on the bigger picture. #FootballCulture #WinningMentality
