Covering 200 acres – around 20% of the entire site – this project is a crucial step toward unlocking the full potential of Ravenscraig’s future development. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞? Remediation works are essential to clear the land of remnants from the old steelworks, including deep concrete foundations and other materials. This will allow us to prepare the site for future development, including 2,000 much-needed high-quality homes. In fact, over 600,000 cubic metres of material will be extracted, recycled, and backfilled – enough to fill 240 Olympic swimming pools! We’re committed to doing this sustainably, working with partners to ensure that environmental considerations are at the forefront of our efforts. From recycling materials to maintaining biodiversity, we’re working to create a greener, better future for Ravenscraig. This is a long-term vision, with phased completion anticipated from 2028 - 2035, and we want the community to be involved every step of the way.
