The #Olympics are an event like no other with #Paris2024 promising to be magical and one to remember. This is the first regular Summer Games following the pandemic and the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 event. Plans have been in place for this one since Paris was awarded the event in 2017. It is no surprise to see an extraordinary depth of preparation for this edition as a result. A huge amount of consideration and planning has gone into managing all possible scenarios that might occur, from technical problems (the IOC says the Cloudstrike outage last week was “quite a good rehearsal”), to security problems, weather issues, and more. The Games might have been awarded in 2017, but the plans stretch further back than that and have no doubt had to evolve significantly as technology and audience demands have changed. It promises to be a showcase of content and the power of connectivity, leveraging the allure of live sport to reach audiences worldwide. I’m looking forward to attending and witnessing the event in person, as well as watching it at home as a fan across different screens and engaging on social media. If all goes to plan it will be a fabulous two weeks of sporting entertainment.
