We've learned over the years that our Alumni Attitude Study is a great way for our education partners to benchmark against peer institutions. We are delighted to announce the successful final close of our Education Fund at $52 million. This marks an important milestone for us – as the first fund since Greater Share’s launch in 2022 – and we are proud to have raised capital from more than fifty individual investors and organisations across the world. Our innovative philanthropic investment model supports high-impact NGOs with additional long-term funding through investments in best-in-class private equity funds and donations from our private equity partners. A huge thank-you to our partners Bain Capital, Cinven, Hg, Lexington Partners, Nautic Partners LLC and Permira for their continued support. The Education Fund will provide sustainable funding over the next decade to eight NGOs focused on achieving greater education equity in underserved communities across the world. We are proud to support exceptional organisations such as aeioTU, AllChild, CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education, Kaivalya Education Foundation, KIPP Foundation, London Early Years Foundation (LEYF), National Institute for Student Success and Teach For All with their critical work. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗚𝗢𝘀? Everywhere I go, every meeting I attend, every forum I participate in, organizations often ask me how to raise funds. On the other hand, we always receive feedback about how many organizations have succeeded in fundraising. And their success is predictable. Which begs the question, where is the problem? In a study we conducted two years ago, not more than 30% of the people we trained put into practice the skills provided. They have different reasons; - No fund allocations. - I did not have time. - The processes appear complicated. - My boss did not give me the go-ahead - We just did not get it. Predictably, you can see dishonesty in these responses. Which begs the question, why attend training if you dont want to put to practices new knowledge? It is like going to the hospital, getting the right diagnosis, purchasing the drugs and failing to take them as prescribed. Interestingly, 73% of the persons that put new knowledge to practice either received funding or indicated receiving better outcomes at their fundraising needs. I sent an email to hundreds of people who bought my book "Fundamentals of Fundraising in NGOs". Only 33% have responded and 19% have confessed to putting new knowledge into practices. 59% of those have reported success in term of resources gained, improved management practices, governance practices etc. Please, listen to fundraising experts. Knowledge is like science. It is predictable and works all the time. Fundraising is no mean tasks and requires personal convictions, passion and the desire to succeed. Putting new knowledge into practice WILL RESULT IN SUCCESS. Period! Consider this. Even if you don’t succeed in raising resources, you shall have gained skills and will thus not make same mistake again. New knowledge is a sustainability component. Remember that always. We are in the final stage of developing a "Fundraising Package" that will contain 20 years of Fundraising Experience spread in about 8 different documents. That package has no gap and is meant for experienced Fundraising experts as well as new beginners. Be sure to stay connected with us and check us out regularly. How can philanthropic funders help non-profits drive more impact? We often debate the sustainability of philanthropy as an income source for scale. Some argue that non-profits must find funding models with enough income generation to sustain the model, whilst others argue that philanthropy is actually the most sustainable source as it is the least volatile to things such as economic crises. Whether sustainable or not, our #SecuringNonprofitFunding study showed that philanthropy remains a lifeline for most non-profits, including those scaling at impressive levels. Long-term support from philanthropy is what enables non-profits to work with others to deliver their solutions at scale. It’s the key to hitting the ‘impact jackpot’ and maximising return on investment for funders. But the path to accessing the right philanthropic funding for scale isn’t without challenges. When doing fund raising monitoring, evaluation, and planning, it is best to work as a team. Your Program Manager will give valuable insights on the situation 'on the ground' and the needs of the communities you serve. Your Finance Manager will clarify your costs versus donations received. Rowe Price Foundation team, and their amazing grantees, we assessed how successfully the Foundation employed trust-based philanthropy principles during its 2019-2023 grantmaking efforts. This report outlines our findings, including ideas the Foundation and other grantmakers can use to strengthen their impact and processes.
