With several conferences behind all of us (phew!), June is poised to be the highest volume month for virtual events at purple cork since the holidays. Q2 pipeline acceleration time! And continued conversations, virtually, after in-person programs. Many of you ask on calls which experiences are most popular with other companies. This summer, it's all about Tacos & Tequila + other seasonal BBQ and picnic themes, Fresh California Rose, Iced Vietnamese Coffee (option for bubble tea add-on), and Mezcal Margs or Vodka Gimlets. Mmmm. Another interesting question often asked - do non-alcoholic experiences have a different vibe? They absolutely do, as typically hosted earlier in the day where your attendees are more likely to be multi-tasking at their desk. But it's a great way to give your thought leadership some extra oomph and delicious attendance incentive. Most of our clients see 70%+ attendance w/ these unique virtual experiences. The venue has been decided and will be announced later this week! 🍸 You may be wondering what you can expect from a Futurist roundtable event, so here is the breakdown... 🌇 The setting: We pick our location from a selection of London's most iconic private dining rooms, we prefer those that are a little quirky and unique. After all, the atmosphere is everything! 👥 The people: Our events are intimate. Reflecting on an Enlightening Experience at ProWein 2024 🍷 This past week, I had the privilege of attending ProWein 2024 in Dusseldorf, and what an experience it was! From exploring innovative trends to reconnecting with industry peers, it was an eventful journey filled with valuable insights. Having last attended ProWein before the pandemic, the contrast was noticeable. While the number of exhibitors was still plentiful, there was a noticeable decrease in attendance. This provided ample space to move around and little to no wait to speak with exhibitors. One aspect that struck me was the diverse approaches taken by exhibitors to capture visitors' attention. From elaborate displays to creative marketing strategies, it was fascinating to see the ingenuity on display. However, I couldn't help but notice that exhibitors with limited budgets faced challenges in standing out. Cost was another prominent theme of discussion. Participating in ProWein has become increasingly expensive, not just in terms of event fees but also travel and accommodation costs. Many attendees had to make compromises to manage these expenses, with some even shortening their stay. Some skipped ProWein altogether in lieu of alternative events that provided greater value. Speaking of alternatives, there was a buzz surrounding Wine Paris, touted for providing greater value and for the location being more convenient and affordable. It's clear that the landscape of industry gatherings is evolving, and it's crucial to explore all options. As I reflect on my time at ProWein 2024, I'm undecided about my attendance next year. However, I'm eager to explore the offerings of Wine Paris 2025 and see firsthand if it lives up to the hype. Over the past 7 years I've spent hundreds of hours at events. Here's my take on how to make the most out of YOUR investment. - Make connections beforehand. Make plans to actually connect with them beforehand. - Leave your pitching pants at the hotel, you can put them on when the time is right. - Look for sidecar events happening around the show. Here's why: - Real connections matter more. If you're going just to pitch every connection you make will be transactional and will really only last the length of the handshake. Almost everyone at that event is going with the intention of meeting new people or learning something new. Find sincere ways to deliver on that. - Lead with mutual value first and I promise you'll get the opportunity to give a real pitch if your new connection is a qualified buyer. At the end of the day these interactions will lead to stronger future pipeline and a more successful event. - Smaller, sidecar events create a unique opportunity to spend more time getting to know peers and these new connections you've made. More importantly, they also get to know you without the booth behind you or the elevator pitch. Goes a long way. There's a time and place for different event strategies. I'm not saying this will work at scale for everyone, but I know for me it's turned into hundreds of true, strong connections and Millions of $$ closed for more than just me.. P.S.
