What a great convo and VERY TIMELY! Thanks Eric Barker, RPh for the knowledge share and Sarah Howlett, MBA, CHVA for the intro. It's never fun to be forced to do something, especially something very expensive. Well, listen to this convo. Annual health plan renewals happen every year and 2024 is getting locked in now. Many employers are kicking the can on GLP-1 meds. I'm here to warn you not to. A lot may happen in the next 12 months in regards to these meds and you need to be on offense when the time comes. If you already have a plan in place, you will be driving on a clear path looking in the rear view mirror on panic. This is not only to protect you financially, but if done correctly with a lifestyle support program first...or alongside, then you can also be making enormous quality of life impacts for your employees. Using OODA on your EMS calls? Decide - From raw data to actionable insight, EMS professionals should now be well-positioned to decide on the appropriate response. Ultimately, this step of the process is about choosing from among a great many options. Each option will be informed by the foothold established in the orientation phase, but this is the forward-looking part of the equation. Rapid transport vs. treat on scene, (trauma, MI, CVA etc.) Given the present variables that have been established, which course of action will deliver the most optimal outcome? Last month, the Northern Virginia Emergency Response System hosted offerings of the Regional Chemical Emergency Surge Tabletop Exercise (TTX). The exercises, held in the City of Charlottesville and Fairfax County, brought together participants representing hospitals, public health, emergency medical services (EMS), hazardous materials (HAZMAT), and law enforcement. Over sixty (60) players worked through a chlorine gas release and mass casualty scenario that drove examination of regional hospital surge, public messaging, patient distribution, resource requests, and decontamination capabilities.
