I have been helping Xendit to expand its Sales and Marketing across Southeast Asia the last 1.5 years. As some of you might have read in the news, there were some org changes at Xendit last Monday. One thing I love about GenZs is that they say things as they are. They don't sugarcoat anything. Hawafichi white! You are chilling in your office after a lunch break and a GenZ employee pops in and says, "Boss I don't like this place because it is very strict and toxic. Hii place haigive!". Before you respond, lean back, relax, breath and pull out a maturity composure card. Everyone says it's difficult to deal with a GenZ especially in the workplace but that's always never the case. We first have to accept that each generation is unique in its own way. GenZs are infact the easiest people to deal with. Whenever you hire one, ensure you scout for talent in a specific skill rather than just anyone to fill in a role. Mostly born and thriving in the digital era, GenZs run with a notion that it mustn't take much sweat and effort to execute a task, and to them, all you need is find a specific skillset or approach to finish a task in the shortest time possible. Matter of fact, it is only GenZs who are driving big cars and living their best lives just at the age of 19, something that only few parents could ever achieve in their most ripe ages back then, and only if they worked reaaally hard for it. In fact a GenZ can thrive where he/she is paid way much less salary as long as they finish a two-day job in minutes or hours. They do not see a point of keeping them for a whole day when they can finish their duty in hours. The world is rapidly evolving with technology making it's way into almost everything and this is where we are going to be forced to bank on this generation. Without a doubt they are the leaders of tomorrow and it will get to a point where they will be in charge and control of the world when they come of age. May 1st, 2024 marked my one year anniversary with LifeRaft and what a great year it has been! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲/𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬? My title within the company is IT Support Specialist. Some responsibilities that come with that title include: ➖ Assisting end users with troubleshooting devices and software issues. ➖ Performing onboarding and offboarding of staff. ➖ IT Operations which includes policy and system changes, system patching, device management, etc. ➖ Working with directory services such as G Suite and MS 365. ➖ Hardware inventory management. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲? The opportunity to grow alongside the company! The duties outlined in the job advertisement piqued my interest, and I could see joining LifeRaft offered lots of chances to learn and advance in my field. The quick accumulation of knowledge I have gained in one year has kept me motivated to embrace new tasks and responsibilities, seeing each one as an opportunity to learn and develop further. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞? ➖ The work-life balance and flexibility to work remotely. ➖ The people at LifeRaft, everyone is so friendly and respectful! ➖ My managers trust me to handle tasks and responsibilities independently, without needing constant oversight. 𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐲? My favourite pastime has always been gaming, specifically with friends online. I use it as an opportunity to socialize with others and enjoy an activity that presents competitiveness and strategic thinking. Other hobbies I enjoy in person are playing pool, ping pong, and board games! 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝. This is a condiment but I guess it still falls under food, and I know I'll probably catch some heat for this but I can't stand mustard.
