"I finally cleared my job interview! The package that they offered is below my expectation. But it is a work from home set up. What should I do?" A work from home (WFH) opportunity is lucrative. You want to skip the commute and also be in a comfortable environment. However, this should not stop you from negotiating your salary. You will be giving equal effort like an employee coming into the office. So, negotiate as you would for a regular job. Find out how much the company is paying for someone in your role from Ambition box. This is a portal which anonymously shares company reviews, salary and benefits. Taking a low cut just because you are getting WFH is not a wise decision because you will not be working from home forever. If your next job is work from office, then your future negotiation would be benchmarked on this low salary. Accepting a lower salary for a remote job opportunity won't offer fulfilment in long term. You may get frustrated by seeing others earn more. Negotiating is key, whether it's for a remote or office job. Express gratitude for the offer, highlight your skills and experience, and confidently state your salary expectations. It's about fair compensation for your valuable contribution.
