HEET is a cool nonprofit that works on an equitable energy transition. 🔥 They’re collecting data of geothermal systems to better understand the costs and challenges associated with geothermal + help guide best practices for projects moving forward. If you have any data to add, please fill out this survey!! https://lnkd.in/g9zhRpyH All of the resulting statistical analysis will be open sourced. 🤩 Email info@heet.org if you have any questions, and please share with people in the geo industry! 🙏 Tangents: I really admire HEET’s decision to make things open-sourced. There’s a lot of information asymmetry in the world — we need to work together to collect as much data as we can so we have a fuller picture when analyzing / reflecting / making conclusions. In the context of decarbonization, this will help us ensure we are strategic in our planning! It’s great that there are so many people designing and implementing systems, but that NEEDS to be complemented with sharing and collaborating if we hope to accelerate impact. Each “local” work contributes to a “global” knowledge base!! I also imagine there are barriers for some entities to offer open-sourced resources, such as not having the infrastructure, the funding, the connections, the bandwidth, etc. One question I have is: how can we create systems that make it easy to share knowledge, learn about others’ work, and “localize” other’s solutions to their own context?
Geo installers: We’re launching a new survey to understand the costs and challenges associated with geothermal, helping guide best practices for projects moving forward. Submissions will be anonymous, and the resulting statistical analysis will be publicly available through our LeGUp project. Register for our October 3rd webinar, which will explain the survey’s purpose in more detail and invite you to participate. https://lnkd.in/eKT4ANQR We understand this date falls on Rosh Hashanah, and apologize for the timing. The webinar will be recorded and shared afterward on the survey webpage.

In the marine geophysical survey industry, hydrophones are commonly used in conjunction with a seismic sound source to perform ‘seismic reflectivity surveys’. These surveys provide vital information for companies searching for oil, natural gas, and minerals or for those planning offshore construction projects, such as wind farms. With a multi-channel streamer the electrical response of individual hydrophone elements OR small groups of elements are recorded separately and each separate recording is referred to as a channel, hence ‘multi-channel streamer’. Learn more about Single vs Multi-Channel surveys here: https://lnkd.in/eaJaKkpx #SingleChannelSurvey #MultiChannelSurvey #Hydrophone #appliedacoustics #aaetechnologies

This is going to happen more frequently so we must work on increasing demand where possible but this means changing the rules. Currently in the UK we add about 10p/kWh in charges to each unit of electricity generated, so even when the wholesale price is zero the cost to the end user is higher than the cost of natural gas. The end result is that it is cheaper to waste it than to use it. Heating is an easy source of instant demand that cuts emissions, but for it to happen the price of electricity has to be offered at a rate that does not include these charges.
Storm Kathleen combined with ample solar power has resulted in zero or negative prices in almost every European market tomorrow. And we're only in April! The pricing is expected to become even more extreme as we get sunnier days. In fact, the impact of Storm Kathleen will result in negative prices in the GB market for a continuous 15 hours tomorrow, leading to the suspension of CfDs in a number of offshore wind-farms and self-curtailment of these wind-farms. Only three northern zones of Norway and Poland have significantly positive prices in the middle of tomorrow, while Macedonia and Italy are just above zero. Stay tuned for more updates! #StormKathleen #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #EuropeanMarket #EnergyPrices

Folks and communities in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana! Next week, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will host two virtual scoping sessions for the planned Gulfstream LNG Project (Docket No. PF24-5-000) in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana on October 16 and 17. Virtual Scoping Sessions: The first virtual scoping session is on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. CDT (Call in number: 1-888-810-4938) The second virtual scoping session is on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CDT (Call in number: 1-888-810-4938) What should you expect at a virtual scoping session? First, you should know that anyone from the public may call in and provide oral comments on the project. For each session, there will be a brief introduction by FERC staff when it opens. Important information about the FERC process will be provided, so please make every attempt to call in at the beginning of the sessions. All participants will be able to hear the one-on-one comments provided by other participants; however, all lines will remain closed during the comments of others and then opened one at a time for providing comments. If a significant number of people are interested in providing oral comments, a time limit of 3 minutes may be used for each commenter. It is important to note that oral comments hold the same weight as written or electronically submitted comments. Your oral comments will be recorded by the court reporter and become part of FERC’s official administrative public record. Transcripts will be publicly available on FERC’s eLibrary system: https://lnkd.in/dy3gWqGh. Finally, each session will end either once all participants wishing to comment have had the opportunity to do so or after two hours, whichever comes first. #BelleChasse #PortSulphur #Plaquemines #PlaqueminesParish #Louisiana #GulfStreamLNG #NaturalGas #FERCGas #Energy #PublicParticipation #FERCPrefiling #PF24-5

Supercharging the Low Carbon Energy Workforces | Senior Sales and Business Development Manager | Simplifying Decarbonization
This video is 11 years old. If you have never fully understood or seen an onshore well drilling process I suggest watching it! I am sure it is dated but 11 years ago I used it to educate my classmates on how drilling worked (Thanks Chesapeake Energy for the content!) This was the same time I was finishing my capstone on energy output comparisons of traditional fuels to that of bio fuels. I am looking back and imagining the technological advancements we are going to experience with Low Carbon Energy. Just like oil and gas we have to start somewhere... #elementalenergy #oilandgas #lowcarbonenergy #energytransition
