US MNCs take a very long time to complete the hiring in US, but take lesser time when they are hiring in India reason being, natural cost advantage. Indian companies take less time if they are hiring for a US project due to billing reasons. After the hire is complete, they start their second innings search for a low cost resource. When they find one, they will replace the first hire by terminating him with reasons like, low productivity / client escalation / project no longer available, etc. etc. They find lame reasons to terminate and tell the client that the candidate left at short notice for personal reasons. This is the level they stoop down, to save some dollars. Do you want to call this hiring culture or absence of one ? #hiring #corporateworld #venkyvibes

Nothing comes easy. Even when you’re at the peak of your performance, & everything goes by easily, it’s because the efforts you put in, just seem to be effortless due to your months & years of practice. But once in a while, there comes a deal or a client's requirement that just leaves you frustrated. I call it “The Difficult Searches” in our field of global executive search. They could be difficult because of various reasons: 1. Limited Talent: There are some roles in certain industries, for which worthy candidates do not show their interest, for very valid reasons. For example, one of the global leaders in agricultural solutions didn’t have a good reputation with EHS practices & needed to change that. We successfully hired a new Global EHS head for them. We also hired a superstar CEO for a corporate real estate which had no brand value at that time. 2. Compensation: The ideal candidate for a particular company is not satisfied with the compensation package they are offering. 3. Highly Complex Subject: Sometimes the technicalities involved in a company are very complex in itself. One such instance is of the time we had to find a CEO of a Logistics company specialising in airfreight of time sensitive shipments. The catch was that the position was in the USA, & the challenge was to find an American candidate, for the start of their branch for a relatively unknown entity. 4. Very Specific Requirements: A client with a speciality in chemicals, wanted an R&D Head who had worked under a particular scientist in CIBA India, & had now settled in Switzerland. We located 4 out of the 6 such candidates, and convinced one of them to move from Europe to Pune. 5. You're a Replacement: When some other search company already failed to find a suitable candidate, and now the onus is on you. This might seem like a great opportunity, but it comes with an added mental pressure to succeed, & prove that you're the better option for your client. We have successfully executed several searches for senior executives after renowned global search firms could not. Virat Kohli has mentioned this in a lot of his post match presentations & conferences. “In tough situations, it is important to stick to the basics.” And this holds true for everyone.
