In the number of patent applications Europe is in the same level with China and US but only 1/3 of these innovations are commercially exploited. It's time to close this innovation gap and enable scaling of companies in Europe. Private investment capital gap needs to be closed too. Humbled to be invited as guest of honor, among two and a half thousand people from all over the world, at the annual dinner of the Turkish Shipbrokers’ Association. Nothing divides them. Our love for shipping unites them. I have named the Mediterranean Basin the “hub of hubs”, connecting four continents. Greeks and Turks together, let’s make Eastern Med the definition of shipping, ports, shipyards and logistics; in other words, the definition of what some people would call a “maritime cluster”. More than this, let’s make this corner of the earth a place of peace, prosperity and brotherhood.
