Finland is an arctic high-tech NATO country with a vast amount of know-how and technology to strengthen our common defence. Deepening cooperation with the U.S. opens up new possibilities, especially for dual-use and New Defence industries. Sweden’s armed forces have long been customers of Systematic’s world-leading SitaWare solution, using it to integrate their forces, operate effectively and boost situational awareness. And with the country’s accession to NATO, they now join 17 other member states who all deploy the SitaWare Suite. Among many other advantages, this ensures that Swedish users can directly integrate their system with allied partners, with a reduced need for interoperability standards, meaning everyone can work together more effectively. NATO and friends: a tale of two exercises 17th June 2024 As NATO marks its 75th anniversary, Callum Fraser considers the strategic role of exercises in delivering deterrence in the Euro-Atlantic and Asia-Pacific arenas. As NATO prepares to mark its 75th anniversary against the dark backdrop of the Ukraine conflict, it has just completed its largest and perhaps most significant post-Cold War exercise, Steadfast Defender. On the other side of the world, where strategic clouds are gathering, Australia and the United States are laying plans for the largest and most important edition yet of their main biennial joint training exercise, Talisman Sabre. This will likely also involve the most significant contributions yet by other partner nations, including from Europe. These two major sets of manoeuvres are a reminder of the importance of exercises in delivering defence, deterrence and strategic messaging – demonstrating both will and capability. They also point to the increasingly intertwined security concerns and connections between the Euro-Atlantic and Asia-Pacific theatres.

Norway's commitment to NATO is paving the way for advanced defence capabilities and interoperability! With Chief of Defence General Eirik Kristoffersen at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), discussion focused on Norway's critical role in: - Developing space assets for surveillance and navigation, particularly in the Arctic region. Norway's space program is focused on surveillance, positioning, and communications, developed in close coordination with allies and intelligence services. - Investing in research and development to maintain a technological edge. Enhancing multi-domain operations and addressing critical infrastructure and digital technique challenges. - Meeting NATO defence plans through investments in force structure and AI-enabled capabilities. - Collaborating with military, academia, and industry to leverage civilian technology for military use. It underscore the importance of collaboration and innovation in strengthening NATO's collective defence. Norway's dedication to technological advancement and strategic partnerships makes it a vital contributor to our shared security.

By fostering open dialogue, Member States can collaboratively address common challenges and strategize on collective responses. This level of cooperation strengthens the alliance and ensures that space-related policies and initiatives are aligned with mutual interests and security objectives. 🌌 I’m pleased to see the NATO Bi-Strategic Command Space Working Group achieving greater success with each iteration! This group, comprising experts and representatives from various member nations and NATO entities, has been instrumental in advancing NATO's space capabilities and strategies. Their ongoing success underscores the importance of sustained cooperation and highlights the tangible benefits of collective efforts in addressing space-related challenges. 🚀👏 As the space domain becomes increasingly congested and contested, it is essential for nations to work together efficiently. Collaborative efforts allow to enhance situational awareness, share technical expertise, and promote the development of standardized protocols. This united approach is crucial for mitigating risks, optimizing resource utilization, and achieving shared goals in space activities and security. 🌍✨
