Most people think wealth is cars, clothes, and houses but as I get older I'm optimizing for things money can't buy.
I've found that trying to cater your goals to money leaves you feeling empty. I wouldn't trade life for money much like I wouldn't trade it for gas.
It's a renewable resource.
The only non-renewable resource is time.
This is the reason why I emphasize health, family, friends, impact, environment, and lifestyle.

How Much of Your Life Is Your Phone Taking?
Imagine spending over 10 years of your life glued to a screen.
Sounds extreme?
Yet, with the average person on their phone for 4–6 hours daily, that’s what can happen by the time we hit 80.
Phones are great tools, but as Dan Go explained, they can take more than they give.
🟢 What Happens to Your Brain?
Chronic phone use rewires your brain. It messes with GABA, a chemical that helps regulate stress, and floods your system with dopamine—a short-lived “feel-good” burst that leaves you craving more.
Over time, this can mimic addiction. Studies even show reduced grey matter (key for memory, emotions, and movement) and disrupted white matter (critical for processing information), with brains resembling those of drug users.
🟢 The Hidden Costs
Beyond brain chemistry, phone addiction can lead to anxiety, depression, sleep problems, eye strain, relationship challenges, and even physical dangers like texting while driving.
It’s not the phone itself; the apps are designed to hijack your attention.
🟢 Are You Addicted?
Craving your phone when bored? Checking it before talking to loved ones? Using it in unsafe situations? These could be signs of addiction.
🟢 Take Back Control
Here’s how to break free:
▶️ Face the truth: Notice and list your habits—no more excuses.
▶️ Detox your apps: Delete the ones that steal your focus.
▶️ Make it unappealing: Switch to greyscale mode to dull its appeal.
▶️ Out of sight, out of mind: Keep your phone far away during work, sleep, or family time.
▶️ Silence the noise: Turn off notifications and sounds.
▶️ Create boundaries: Set “no phone zones” at home and reward yourself for sticking to them.
▶️ Find alternatives: Replace screen time with reading, walking, or connecting with loved ones.
▶️ Track your progress: Monitor your screen time and celebrate small victories.
Taking charge of your phone habits doesn’t mean ditching technology altogether—it means using it on your terms. The result? A healthier mind, stronger relationships, and more time for what truly matters.
