German transmission system operator Amprion has selected NKT to provide high-voltage alternate current (AC) and direct current (DC) onshore power cable systems for the ongoing expansion of the German power grid. With the award of these two specific turnkey projects, NKT will design, manufacture and install the high-voltage power cable systems with voltage levels of 110kV, 380kV AC and 525kV DC. With a combined value of approximately 1.2 billion Euros, this order has taken NKT’s order backlog for high-voltage cables to around 12 billion Euros. With these project awards, Amprion progresses the extension of its high-voltage transmission grid as a key element in the acceleration of the Energiewende, Germany’s long-term strategy for the transition to renewable energy by 2045. Advancing major UK power link project supply chain Tendering has commenced for the Eastern Green Link 3 HVDC connection project, aiming to establish a 680 kilometre subsea link from Aberdeenshire to Norfolk Tendering has opened for the cable and converter work packages of the Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL3) HVDC connection project, a collaboration between SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission. This project, designed to transfer renewable energy from Scotland to the rest of the UK, will span approximately 680 kilometres, combining onshore and subsea cabling. The EGL3 initiative proposes a 2GW bi-pole, 525kV HVDC link between Peterhead in Aberdeenshire and Norfolk, aiming to enhance the transmission efficiency of renewable energy to meet national net zero goals. Scheduled for completion by 2033, EGL3 represents the largest HVDC transmission project planned in the UK. It forms a crucial component of SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 programme, involving a £20 billion investment to bolster Scotland’s renewable energy infrastructure. #maritimeconnection #subsea #socsea24 #engineering #ISeaSMEs https://lnkd.in/eemiMhCX

"Danish and German TSO’s Energinet and 50Hertz Transmission GmbH have started the tendering process for key technologies of the joint project Bornholm Energy Island that will bring 3 GW of green power to German and Danish energy consumers." "The market dialogue with interested vendors has shown that the Energy Island project needs start tendering early in order to reserve production capacity and keep to the project timeline. Another direct consequence of the market dialogue is that 50Hertz and Energinet will split the tender into multiple contracts in order to enable vendors interested in bidding on the HVDC stations and cables the possibility to bid on contracts within their core business, while other parts of the project will be tendered separately." #climateaction #energysecurity #wasserstoff Energinet procurement link - https://lnkd.in/dV37TW6g Energinet press release - https://lnkd.in/dJN5fMmr

The #Viking Link is a high-voltage direct current (#HVDC) interconnector between the #UK and #Denmark, designed to enhance energy security and facilitate #renewable energy #exchange The interconnector spans approximately 765 km, with a capacity of 1.4 GW (1,400 MW), making it one of the longest interconnectors globally. It consists of two parallel submarine cables, each 625 km long, and connects the Bicker Fen substation in Lincolnshire, UK, to the Revsing substation in southern Jutland, Denmark. The project, developed through a joint venture between #National Grid and #Energinet, involved an investment of about €2 billion ($2.25 billion). Construction began in July 2020 and was completed in December 2023 Viking Link aims to provide access to Danish #wind power, supporting the UK's #renewable energy goals. It is expected to save UK consumers approximately £500 million in the first ten years of operation and supply renewable energy to about 2.5 million homes. Initially, the interconnector will operate at a maximum of 800 MW due to #grid #constraints, with plans to reach full capacity by 2025. This project is pivotal for integrating renewable energy sources and enhancing #cross-border electricity trading between the UK and Denmark. Viking Link: Home https://lnkd.in/gbVWjQMR

Romania - Renewables ->New rules for Electrical Network Capacity Allocation Effective January 1, 2026, the new regulation will: 🔹 Replace the current reinforcement participation model with an auction-based mechanism for allocating network capacity. 🔹Apply to production/consumption sites with/without new storage facilities, with installed power ≥ 5 MW. 🔹Introduce a 5% financial guarantee for technical connection permits for new sites with capacities over 1 MW, regardless of reinforcement needs. The guarantee must be provided before issuance of the ATR. 🔹Allocate funds from auctions to network operators for essential electricity network development. 🔹Offer a 12-month extension with an additional 5% bond if external factors delay building permits. 🔹Update reinforcement computation to ensure fairness by considering valid prior ATRs. #romania #renewables #capacityallocation
⚡️ ANRE Announces New Methodology for Electrical Network Capacity Allocation! The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has revamped the methodology for allocating electrical network capacities to connect energy production units. This change is driven by the surge in new projects, mainly from renewable sources, surpassing the current transport and distribution systems' integration capacity. With imediate effect new provisions are in place: 🔹Introduce a 5% financial guarantee for technical connection permits for new sites with capacities over 1 MW, regardless of reinforcement needs. The guarantee must be provided before issuance of the ATR. 🔹Offer a 12-month extension with an additional 5% bond if external factors delay building permits. 🔹Update reinforcement computation to ensure fairness by considering valid prior ATRs. Effective January 1, 2026, the new regulation will: 🔹 Replace the current reinforcement participation model with an auction-based mechanism for allocating network capacity. 🔹Apply to production/consumption sites with/without new storage facilities, with installed power ≥ 5 MW. 🔹Allocate funds from auctions to network operators for essential electricity network development. 💡 This is a significant step towards accommodating the growing influx of renewable energy projects and enhancing the electrical infrastructure's capacity and its a result of intense advocacy of the association over the past years.

Clean Energy World UK and Denmark working together to deliver cleaner, more secure and more affordable energy World’s largest electric cable close to power, could light 1.4 million homes A high voltage direct current cable will connect UK homes with fresh green energy from the wind farms of Denmark. Viking Link, the world's largest interconnector, connecting electrical grids in Denmark and the UK using a 475-mile (765 km) undersea cable is days away from being put into operation. The interconnector will go online at reduced capacity and eventually power 1.4 million homes in the UK. Interconnectors enable a quick way to tide over demand-supply fluctuations in an electrical grid. These are especially important in a world where energy comes from renewable sources and is known to be produced intermittently. Viking Link is a 1400 MW high voltage direct current (DC) electricity link between the British and Danish transmission systems connecting at Bicker Fen substation in Lincolnshire and Revsing substation in southern Jutland, Denmark. The project involves the construction of converter sites and installation of onshore and offshore cable in each country. These are then connected to the substations. Viking Link will be approximately 765 km long and will allow electricity to be exchanged between Great Britain and Denmark. The interconnector will enable the more effective use of renewable energy, access to sustainable electricity generation and improved security of electricity supplies. It will benefit the socio economy of both countries. This is why the EU expects them to play a crucial role in the region's energy security in the future
