Our own maritime surveillance constellation in production, to contribute to sustainable ocean management 🛰️⚓️🩵
In February, we closed the Critical Design Review for the satellite constellation we will build for Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace: The three initial satellites will use our MP42H #microsatellite bus to enable rapid identification of vessels engaged in environmental crime, illegal fishing, smuggling, and other unlawful activities worldwide while supporting the search and rescue of ships in distress. With the CDR closed, we've already begun satellite bus manufacturing. Once the MP42H bus is assembled, we will integrate the surveillance instruments developed by KONGSBERG and a navigation radar detector developed by the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt - FFI. You can learn more about the mission on our website linked below. #NewSpace #nanosatellites #smallsats

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen or Notice to Air Missions) is a crucial communication tool in aviation, used to inform pilots and other aviation personnel about important temporary changes or hazards related to flight operations. These notices provide information that is essential for the safety of flights and are typically issued by aviation authorities or airport operators. They can include a wide range of information, such as: 1. **Temporary Changes in Airspace**: Such as restricted areas, military exercises, or temporary flight restrictions (TFRs). 2. **Obstructions**: Information about new or temporary obstacles like cranes, towers, or tall buildings near airports. 3. **Runway and Taxiway Conditions**: Temporary closures, maintenance activities, or changes in runway or taxiway availability. 4. **Navigation Aids (NAVAIDs)**: Notices about the unavailability or malfunction of navigation aids like VORs, ILS, or GPS. 5. **Airports**: Changes in airport services, lighting, or other critical infrastructure. 6. **Weather Conditions**: Severe weather events that could impact flight safety. 7. **Hazards**: Potential hazards such as volcanic ash, bird activity, or space launches. NOTAMs are typically issued in a standardized format and are available to pilots and aviation operators before and during flights. Pilots review NOTAMs as part of their pre-flight briefing to ensure they are aware of any relevant safety information for their route or destination.

Our latest publication, "The Use of Uncrewed Aerial Systems by Non-State Armed Groups: Exploring Trends in Africa", delves into the current and emerging trends of non-State armed groups' (NSAGs) utilization of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UASs) across the African continent. The analysis, based on incidents from January 2018 to June 2023, provides different insights into the types of UAS operations, common targets, and impacts associated with the use of UASs by NSAGs. This report, authored by Bárbara Morais, not only highlights the present landscape but also explores enabling factors and identifies trends that may influence how NSAGs deploy UASs in the future. When you can't see the Scooper... But then you remember you have an MX-15 sensor and can find the Scooper miles away 🔥 Why is this important? The “Sensor-Enhanced Air Attack” mission augments the Air Tactical Group Supervisor’s (ATGS) visibility over a fire with real-time imaging. Utilizing a multi-spectral sensor enhances situational awareness, enabling visibility through smoke and magnification of critical areas. With medium and short-wave infrared capabilities and multiple zoom levels, the ATGS can closely monitor the crews and ground firefighting operations, even in “zero-visibility” conditions. #aerialfirefighting #aviation #mission

The media more often than not talks about jet tracking, tracking of celebrities in business jets. However Business Jets are doing a lot of tracking themselves, they are also reliable spy tools, patrolling the skies and collecting intelligence. Their range and flexibility operating from a much greater number of airstrips and airports makes them the perfect intelligence tool. #businessaviation #jettracking #elonjet #muskjet #kimjet #tracking #intelligence https://lnkd.in/d_9cZrQx
