It's Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (APAW)! ๐ก Did you know... ย โก An estimated 7.8 million young people participate in afterschool programs yearly in the U.S. ย โก Over 850,000 highly skilled and valuable afterschool professionals work with young people during out-of-school time (OST). ย โก Research shows that afterschool professionals are the key to program quality that mitigates risk factors and positively impacts youth outcomes. ย โก Afterschool programs run by skilled professionals result in increased social and emotional skills, school attendance, and academic performance. Recognizing afterschool professionals isn't just about acknowledging their hard work; it's also about supporting their ongoing growth and development. Providing access to professional development opportunities, such as those offered by the Forumโs Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, is crucial for enhancing skills and effectiveness in working with young people. For more information on APAW and how to show your appreciation from the National AfterSchool Association (NAA), visit: https://lnkd.in/gXhr8pkM #HeartOfAfterschool #OSTProfessionals ย

#EducationMatters #ValueTeachers The following link is wonderfully partisan as former students of Vice-President nominee #TimWalz witness for him. But the video is a powerful statement about the positive impacts good teachers can have on students that will provide them positive life lessons beyond their classroom experiences. Positive life lessons-principles lead to positive lives. If you are interested in learning about Tim Walz, this is the video to watch. https://lnkd.in/ey58t4kD

Meet Miss Bailey Wright, 1st CASJ Graduate and Class of 2024! ๐ Where are you from? Germantown What is your home parish? Holy Family Catholic Church What are your favorite hobbies? watercolor, hiking/running, spending time with family What are your favorite foods? Bacon, dark chocolate, berries, and coffee (if you want to count that as food) What is your favorite book? Story of a Soulย by St. Therese of Lisieux Who is your favorite Saint? St. Therese of Lisieux What is your favorite thing about Chesterton and why? Chesterton Academy provides a joyful environment to learn while being focused on the Church. My favorite aspect is definitely witnessing growth in peers as we all help each other grow in holiness. What is your favorite class and why? Philosophy has become my new favorite class this year. It is amazing to be surrounded by peers who are willing to logically discuss and study philosophers to better understand truth. What was your greatest challenge to overcome in adjusting to a new school like Chesterton? Everyone was new and coming from different schools when we started; some homeschool and some private schools. At first it was difficult to adjust to the varying ideas of what the culture of the school should be like, but gradually, by the Grace of God, we were able to build a new culture of students from those various backgrounds. We strive to help each other be true Saints every day. What is your best Chesterton memory? My favorite memory from Chesterton was the 1st Gala in 2023. After that night, we all realized how special and important our mission is. It is truly a blessing getting to help that mission come into affect. How does it feel to be part of CASJ's first EVER graduating class? Honestly, it's really crazy to be graduating from Chesterton as the very first class. I look back and realize how providential my transfer to Chesterton really was. Chesterton has pushed me, in many ways, out of my comfort zone. Surrounded by encouraging teachers and peers, I have truly learned how to be a leader, especially as the lone female senior. These are lessons that will serve me well for years to come. What are your plans next year? I will be attending Hillsdale College with plans to pursue a degree in Biochemistry. #Classof2024 #classicaleducation #Dayton #Catholic #mission
