We're excited to feature an impactful interview from Behavioral Health Innovators, presented by Lightning Step Technologies, between advocate Benjamin Turner and innovator Marlon Rollins, PhD, LPCC, LMHC of Renewal Health Group. They explore critical issues around mental health crises - warning signs, safety planning, and the power of human connection. Marlon stresses the need to respond with care and collaboration, not escalation and isolation. Together, Benjamin and Marlon model having complex conversations with nuance and heart. They grapple with gaps in the current mental health system, like access barriers and crisis response failures, while accentuating the voices of those on the frontlines stewarding change. There is solidarity in their shared mission to reduce stigma through compassion and lifesaving care. This is one meaningful discussion in an ongoing video series committed to thoughtful dialogue and shedding light on those working diligently to uplift their communities. This compelling discussion comes from Behavioral Health Innovators at The Global Exchange Conference. #BehavioralHealthInnovators #MentalHealthCrisis #SuicidePrevention #DestigmatizeStruggles #BehavioralHealth

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're spotlighting the collaborative efforts led by Anne Arundel County’s Local Behavioral Health Authority (LBHA) and Due East Partners to strengthen the behavioral health system in Anne Arundel County. In April, Due East brought together agency heads and community leaders to co-create a shared agenda focused on 4 key priorities: 1️⃣ Education & Prevention 2️⃣ Quality Care 3️⃣ Equity in Services 4️⃣ Increased Access The goal? Treating mental health and substance use with the same urgency as physical health through a family-centered, coordinated approach. By aligning resources across sectors, this initiative aims to: 🚫 Reduce stigma 🤝 Improve care coordination 👥 Ensure all residents get the support they need This #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, join us in raising awareness that behavioral health IS health. If you're struggling, don't hesitate to prioritize your well-being and seek professional help. 💚 Together, we can create a stronger, more resilient community for all. #communityimpact #behavioralhealth #communitycollaboration

It is heartening to see the progress we've made in increasing funding for mental health services across our Commonwealth. Our collective efforts have brought greater awareness to the importance of mental health and the need for accessible support. 🙌🏼 However, the journey doesn't end here; it's a path that demands continued improvement. Here's why: 🌟 **Reducing Stigma**: We've made strides in reducing the stigma around mental health, but there's more work to do. Continued funding can support educational campaigns to break down remaining barriers and encourage open conversations. 🩺 **Access to Care**: While we've expanded mental health services, there are still gaps in access. Increased funding can ensure that everyone, regardless of location or income, can readily access the care they need. 🌆 **Community Resources**: Building robust community-based mental health resources is essential. Increased funding can empower local organizations to provide vital support within our neighborhoods. 📚 **Research and Innovation**: We must invest in research and innovative therapies to continually improve mental health treatments. Additional funding can accelerate advancements in mental health care. 🌈 **Wellness for All**: Mental health services should be inclusive, addressing the unique needs of various communities. Increased funding allows us to tailor our support to different cultural, age, and gender groups. As your advocate, I'm committed to pushing for increased funding for mental health services. Our goal is a Commonwealth where every individual receives the care they deserve, where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Let's continue this journey together, ensuring that no one is left behind. 💚 #MentalHealthMatters #ProgressForAll

3moThank you, Steve, for an in-depth report on mental health in South Florida and to the Community Foundation, a strong Henderson partner. Over the past few years, funding from the Community Foundation resulted in the naming of the Mary Porter Outpatient Center serving 1,500 patients, and the naming of a nursing station at the new Crisis Stabilization Unit with 48 beds for short-term, intensive inpatient treatment and stabilization.
