The Stark Reality: A Call for Action for Our Disabled Soldiers In the Fiscal Year 2023, the U.S. Army received a staggering budget of approximately ₹ 14,75,800 Crore ( $178 Billion US$ ), while the total U.S. Defense budget was a colossal ₹ 71,00,000 Crore ( $ 858 Billion US$ ). These figures reflect the priorities of a Nation in ensuring that their defense forces have the best equipment, resources, and support systems. Check below video on plight of US Disabled Veteran Soldiers. In contrast, many of India's Disabled Soldiers - Heroes who have selflessly fought to protect the nation - continue to struggle for basic resettlement and Job. Despite India having a substantial Defense budget, ₹ 5,93,537 Crore ( FY 2023 ), the disparity between the allocation for Defense and the resources dedicated to caring for our Disabled Soldiers and their families or 7 Lac Veernaris / Soldier Widows is heartbreaking. At our VeerNari Shakti Resettlement Foundation, we believe that those who sacrifice everything for the Nation deserves more. From Healthcare, Jobs Rehabilitation, to Resettlement, these brave 5000+ Disabled Soldiers should be our Top Priority. It's time to reflect : If Trillions are spent on Defense, why not allocate more for those who defended ??? Join us in this movement to support and honor our Disabled Heroes & Veernaris. #SupportOurSoldiers #WarHeroes #VeernariShakti #India #DefenseBudget #Resettlement #Patriotism ____________________________________________________________________________

“We need to have a maniacal focus on creating more housing, and importantly, targeting that housing towards extremely low income households.” - Dr. Margot Kushel Margot Kushel MD is a rockstar for those of us who work in and care about health and homelessness. This podcast video done by Mark Horvath of Invisible People highlights findings of the largest representative study of homelessness in the United States since the mid-1990s, the California Statewide Study of People Experiencing Homelessness conducted by The University of California, San Francisco Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative. 8 findings of interest covered in this interview: 1) Housing does help and people want housing 2) $300-500 could have prevented homelessness for more than 83% of those surveyed 3) People over 50 and experiencing homelessness medically present as someone in their 70s or 80s 4) Family homelessness is underrepresented as options for shelter and services sometimes separate parents from their children due to lack of options 5) Median age of people experiencing homelessness in CA is 47 6) Systemic exclusions based on race have resulted in overrepresentation of people who are Black Indigenous and People of Color 7) One of the most important things we could do to reduce homelessness is to fully fund the Housing Choice Voucher program 8) Housing and supportive services are a powerful combination to end #homelessness Watch or listen to the 53 minutes to get more context around these important findings https://lnkd.in/g6rATTfS #HousingIsHealthcare #HousingStability #AffordableHousing

"Today, the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced that veteran homelessness has dropped to its lowest level on record since the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) started counting this data in 2009. . . . veterans experiencing any form of homelessness dropped from 35,574 to 32,882—which represents a 7.5 drop since last year, 11.7% drop since 2020, and 55.6% drop since 2010. Among unsheltered veterans, the number dropped 10.7%—from 15,507 in 2023 to 13,851 in 2024." ANY unsheltered citizens in the richest country in the world, is too many. And anyone who's served our country especially deserves to be cared for by the country they served. But to those who say the problem is too big, or too complicated, or too intractable, look at what motivation and perseverance can do. #HomelessnessIsSolvable if you believe it is and have a plan. At SFNW, we do. Finally, "If you are a veteran who is experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, call the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at 877-4AID-VET (877-424-3838) or visit VA.gov/homeless." #tinyhomesforthehomeless #homelessnesssolutions
