It’s been a busy start to the summer months at Hennessy! Ground breakings, toppings out, fishing tournaments, and ribbon cuttings OH MY! 🏗 Topping out at the Florida Holocaust Museum Hennessy is excited to be completing the museum’s newest addition. The two-story project and roof-top terrace will create a more secure entrance lobby as well as provide additional event and exhibition space. 🏘 Ribbon cutting at Innovare It was a busy day in the city of St. Petersburg, as the Volunteers of America hosted the official grand opening celebration of their Innovare Apartment community on the same morning as the Holocaust Museum’s topping out. Innovare is new, affordable housing community with 51 units. It is also home to the VOA’s Florida headquarters. The event was jam packed with area dignitaries and proud new residents, providing a beautiful reminder of what happens when love and community exist. 🦈 26th Annual Kingfish Tournament Since 1999, Hennessy Construction has hosted this annual fishing tournament to celebrate the hard work of our sub-contractors, clients, architects, business associates, and friends. We are grateful for the participants, sponsors and volunteers who continue to make this event fun and successful! This year’s big winners included Paul Keller of Service Tech Corp. (largest weighed Kingfish at 20.3 pounds) and the team from JDON, Inc. (Calcutta winners with a 4.25-pound Spanish mackerel). 🏢 Ground-breaking at Clearwater Gardens Big things are happening in Clearwater and Hennessy is honored to be part of it. Clearwater Gardens, a new, 81-unit affordable housing community is being constructed on a site once synonymous with dilapidated structures and unfavorable neighborhood activities. The 4-story midrise apartment building will include a community room, library, fitness center, game room, coworking space, and a technology lab, providing its residents with space to gather and confer with their neighbors. 🎉 Topping out at Astoria on 9th Topping out celebrations remind us of all the hard work and dedication it takes to bring a project from paper to reality. They allow us to give back to each person who will provide their expertise on site as well as sit down for a moment and bask in what has been accomplished so far. The celebration at Astoria on 9th in Bradenton was no exception. All personnel on site enjoyed a barbeque luncheon (from Perry’s Original Roadside BBQ) as well as a raffle including YETI coolers, tons of tools, gift cards, and a giant TV. Hennessy Construction Services is always excited about delivering the next project and last week, the Canopy at West River broke ground. This joint venture between the TAMPA HOUSING AUTHORITY and the Related Group is part of the ongoing effort to expand quality, affordable housing in the West River community. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Hennessy Construction Services’ team led by James Drake (Project Manager) and Randall Taylor (Superintendent), 82 affordable new homes have been delivered to the people of Collier County. McDowell Housing Partners recently celebrated the grand opening of Ekos on Santa Barbara in Naples. It is with great honor and pleasure to announce that Mark Stalker, Hennessy’s President and Owner, is a 2023 recipient of the Boy Scouts of America® Greater Tampa Bay Council’s Mary Evertz Distinguished Service Award. This award honors individuals who have provided outstanding civic service to their community. These individuals personify what Scouting stands for: good citizenship, outstanding moral fiber with a dedication to others and for living their lives by the Scout Oath and Law. Mark has always had a heart for service. While construction has been his career choice and focus, his true passion lies in serving the community he and his family have always called home. He has a strong belief in volunteering for the benefit of others and his years of servitude have included Southwest Little League (coach then President), St. Petersburg Catholic High School (Advisory Board), Salvation Army of St. Petersburg (Advisory Board and Immediate past chairman), YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg (board member), and a Pastoral Care Volunteer at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
