Discovering the power of the TCP/ IP protocol suite in the 1980s changed my life.

50 years ago today vint cerf and Bob Kahn published their paper on packet switching which is the basis for the Internet we use today. They did come up with TCP: "Within a HOST we assume that existence of a transmission control program (TCP) which handles the transmission and acceptance of messages on behalf of the processes it serves." It was published in IEEE Transactions on Communications ( Volume: 22, Issue: 5, May 1974): https://lnkd.in/dty7AhYw A protocol that supports the sharing of resources that exist in different packet switching networks is presented. The protocol provides for variation in individual network packet sizes, transmission failures, sequencing, flow control, end-to-end error checking, and the creation and destruction of logical process-to-process connections. This work investigates the coexistence of multiple #further-#enhanced #mobile #broadband (#feMBB) and #ultra-#massive #machine-#type #communication (#umMTC) wireless sources in a network. In order to enhance the achievable connectivity, each orthogonal resource block of the network is assigned to one feMBB and multiple umMTC sources. FeMBB sources are assumed to constantly transmit, while umMTC is considered to access the network in a probabilistic manner. If more than one umMTC sources attempt to access the network in a given resource block, no umMTC transmission is permitted, however, when precisely one umMTC source endeavors to access the medium, rate-splitting multiple access is employed to concurrently serve both feMBB and umMTC transmissions. This paper investigates three challenges that can be faced by allocating one controller per switch in a distributed control scheme: (1) Computational complexity, since the assignment is an NP-hard problem, (2) Resource and energy efficiency, to obtain an assignment with the lowest number of controllers in order to reduce resource and energy consumption, and (3) Dynamicity, where a dynamic approach of assignment is required to adapt to the network’s traffic changes. OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) is a reference model for how applications communicate over a network.The open systems interconnection (OSI) model is a conceptual model created by the International Organization for Standardization which enables diverse communication systems to communicate using standard protocols.

This paper deals with scenario-aware, uncoordinated, and distributed signaling techniques in the context of feedforward opportunistic communications, that is, when the opportunistic transmitting node does not cooperate with any other node in a heterogeneous communication context. Check out our recent publication, "A Multicriteria-aware Multipath Routing Method to Increase the QoS for Future 6G Networks," presented at the 13th IEEE International Conference on Communication Systems and Network Technologies-2024. About the paper: Establishing optimal communication networks in isolated areas remains a challenging task. Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) offer a potential solution, but node mobility and limited battery resources present challenges for reliable wireless connections. Our paper introduces a novel routing scheme, Mobility and Energy Consumption Aware Multipath Routing (MEMR), for MANETs. This scheme ensures reliable communication by selecting stable, high-lifetime routes using a multicriteria decision-making approach. It prioritizes intermediate nodes with the highest energy and lowest mobility to determine the optimal route. Our results show that MEMR significantly improves overall network performance, delivering packets with better throughput while reducing energy consumption compared to the conventional MP-OLSRv2 routing protocol.
